I did end up compromising, I got a manual (6 speed) and settled on a 2009 MY10 space grey 325i coupe with 22000km. I hopefully will take delivery next week. The excitment has now flowed over to my 17 and 16 (about to get his L's) year olds when they realised it's not turbo charged and they could drive it

Stephen, I don't see this as a compromise. I think you have a better car with the 325i than the 320d. Where did you get it by the way?

Space Grey FTW, you now need 19's from Jason/VMR to complete the package!

LOL on the non turbo that they can drive, I have the opposite view as my girls want me to teach them to drive (thrie mother drives like nanna) IN my car, the looks on their faces when I said that they were not able to drive a turbo, PRICELESS

It's just that one of the mothers at school mentioned she had been to a certain 'sausage' shop at the chase and her mother (yes granny) though it was a bit under size

LOL! Well she must have chosen the wrong sausage...a lot of the North Shore mummies go for mine and they seem to love the portion and taste.

Hi ABC99G,
I purchased the BMW 325i from Nick Theodossi Prestige cars in Melbourne. I saw it at cars online. I submitted a web request and Nick called me back. The next day I flew down to Melbourne (from Newcastle) to take a look. The GM of Nick Theodossi picked me up from the airport and gave me his undivided attention while I was at the dealership including taking me on the test drive. They then paid my cab fare back to the airport. I was very impressed with the service I received considering the 325i they sold me is small change against the Ferraris, Audi R8's, Merc's, Bentleys and Maserati’s they also sell.

Really worth going for a look if you are in Melbourne and want to see some very nice cars.

An additional update; after I purchased the vehicle, Joe organised the extended BMW warranty and the 325i to be transported by truck to Newcastle. He also organised the blue slip and registration through a local dealer. This is in addition to trading in my current car.

I was really impressed with the service I received from Nick Theodossi Prestige cars and certainly recommend them for a vehicle.

Cheers,
Stephen

Not too many MY10 325i manuals around. Deal was good and they traded my current car through a local dealer here in Newcastle. The service so far has been first rate.

cheers,
Stephen

Congrats! I think you will like 325i.. Not a powerhouse, but a nice to drive using a manual transmission. The 6 cylinder is perfect for manuals as it allows you to make the best best use of the engine's power in the top half of the tacho.

Please post pics when you pick it up.

Thanks Steven. I will be looking for a new car next year so I will monitor their website. Be careful where you get your car serviced. The local BMW dealer has not got a good reputation. I usually take mine to Trivett in Sydney. Someone on here recommended a central coast dealership. Last time I went to European Car Centre in Maryville, but it was only a minor oil service.

Hi Guys,
I picked the 325i up on Thursday arvo. Absolutely love it! The 2.5l V6 combined with the 6 speed manual gear box is everything I was after. It's alot of fun to drive!

What I wasn't prepared for was the handling! Coming from a Honda Accord and 4WD's I has no real concept what ''On Rails'' really meant! The way it grips the road and goes around corners is nothing like I've experienced before.

Even my 17 and 15 year olds sons now think Dad is just a litle bit cool that he would buy such a car

Anyway, thanks for all the help guys. Below is a couple of photos:

Regards,
Stephen

Stephen, Looks so nice and I'm glad you enjoy it. You made a good point about handling. BMWs are so nice to drive and there aren't many cars that are as good these days. I think you got this car at the right time because they are going to stop using 6 cylinders in the 325i which I think is such a shame. Your 2009 model got the latest version of that engine (some minor updates). With only 22,000km, it seems like a new car!
