Angry No decency

Warning- whining ahead.

Some douche at the Tysons parking lot backed across the front left corner of my car, denting the hood and scraping the bumper... and left no note. Just a nice ugly present for me. I really do hate people for a reason.

Geico to the rescue....

/whining.

Sorry to hear of your misfortune. Which car park did you park at? I frequent that shopping mall and always park at the covered garage within level of the food court. I also try to park in spots with no cars on either side of me. If I have to park beside another car, I make it a point to park beside decent looking cars ie. no scratches or dents and is reasonably clean. Gives me a hint as to how the owner cares for his automobile.

Hope Geico is able give back your Bimmer its good looks. Good luck.

^^ agreed.

I parked in an obscure side space with pretty good protection. backed into it and as far as my sonar sensors would let me go, and yet still someone managed to go out of their way to hit me. Could have been intentional, or could have been our trademark *horrible* drivers here in NOVA... who knows. This is my first hit like this in, well, ever. So my usual parking techniques work. This one was a fluke, I hope.

Thank fellas for the commiseration, it's appreciated.

I feel your pain, last time I was in downtown DC I was circling around the block to pick up a friend (nowhere to park) and ended up on a narrow one way street... some ass in a full size pickup truck is coming at me in the wrong direction and isn't slowing down, I whipped over to the curb next to a fire hydrant so as not to get creamed, curbed my RF wheel (hardly noticeable but still) and PUT A SCRAPE IN MY FRONT BUMPER... I hate people...

Probably ought to see if a lip would cover it or if I'm going to have to get the damn thing repainted... it makes me stabby every time I see it.

Thanks fellas. I moved out here from Cali over a year ago and am frankly shocked at how little the average slob cares about his (or other's) car. This is exacerbated by how bad the drivers are.

As an aside, I've stopped riding my motorcycle because of how drivers can't seem to just stay in the lane that they are in. I was never scared to ride back home. Here, I'm thinking I'll just sell the bike.

Had a true gentleman/woman back into my rear bumper a few weeks back, they declined to leave any sort of contact information. Still haven’t gotten around to getting the new bumper covered (laziness, I’ll confess) but I’m sure as hell not happy about it.

My car is actually going in for repairs (via Geico insurance) at D&V Autobody this week for the exact same reason.

This is the second time it's happened to me. The first time I just couldn't be bothered and paid out of pocket. This time, I was gonna' be a cheap ass and wait for Black Friday for deals on OEM/replica M-Tech front bumpers. Through our local Facebook group (Bimmer Alliance), I found out that a hit-n-run is covered under uninsured motorist, so I went through Geico since I have a cheap deductible.

most people seem to use blackvue or gopro. I did download an app for my phone but I never use it because I'd rather run Waze instead. That of course wouldn't help anyway if your car was hit while parked.

Raja, I see you're in this thread - if I get my bumper repainted, how long would you recommend waiting before putting a clear bra on it? If I start fresh I'd like to protect it. Feel free to PM/text so's not to clutter up the thread.

I recently installed a Blackvue. I have decided to make a thread about it and the install.

I hate that this happens to people.
