I've seen an increase in my mileage since installing my tune. I do a lot of highway driving so I think the engines not working as hard when I get up to speed/pass people.

Chances are any extra miles you would get will get cancelled out since you'll just be standing on the gas all the time

+1
Any fuel mileage increase will be offset by how much fun it is to hammer the throttle... *sigh* sometimes I wish I could recreate the magic of the first time I drove the car with a proper tune...

The tune simply boosts the turbo to higher level. More air and fuel provided to the engine which results in more power.

Hi,

I have a procede p/back on my E91 335i 6MT here in the UK and with it on map 2 my fuel economy has dipped by 10% on urban / highway commute.

If I want to conserve fuel, map 0 is stock.

Once you have sampled the fun that boosted maps 1 and 2 bring though you won't be in map 0 v often after that......

You're not going to see a tune only give you an increase of 100hp, the average tune will bump power by about 50hp. It's still a world of difference.

Yea, a tune isnt going to magically free up an additional 100hp. At the wheels you'll go from 280 to about 320 (40 WHP gain) and from 295 to 340 (45 WTQ). From there you might be able to free up 5-10 more horses/tq with an intake, but there's no way you'll go over 330/350 with a tune setup that won't blow up your engine/turbos.

Are you positive? I thought it was more than that.

^^^this is to the wheels obviously. I think you have to add 15-20% more to calculate to the crank.

Someone correct me if i am wrong.

This is AT WHEEL horsepower/torque estimates, which are really the only ones that matter. You might be seeing 75hp/80tq gains at the flywheel, but you lose some of that power as it gets sent through the drivetrain, rear axle & finally to the wheels.

Don't worry, there's still going to be a night & day difference when you accelerate the car after you install the tune. I was shocked when I put my COBB Stage 1 on & the difference in the power. Now I'm addicted to getting more power out of my N54 -- Just ordered VRSF DPs & about to buy a Helix FMIC so I can run Stage 2, no Meth for me though.

Put it in perspective: A FBO 335i, that's a tune, Intake, DPs and FMIC, is prob making 395-400 wheel HP/415-420 wheel tq. That's without meth, nitrous and the OEM turbos.

So if you're looking to make 350 HP/360 TQ on just a tune you're gonna burn out your engine/turbos from putting too much stress on them. You need those supporting mods to get the power to the mid/upper 300s

Never dynoed it stock so I can't be sure, but I'm thinking JB4+Map7+Race Gas in my car was good for 90-100whp.

1/4 Mile Stock Full Weight: 13.6 @ 103
1/4 Mile JB4+Map 7 + Race Gas Full Weight: 12.031 @ 114.72

Most of the ET is from full power in 1st and 2nd, but the trap is what tells the story.
