Sorry Guy's Off Topic Advice Needed
My wife and I have been waiting for a kitchen designer due @ 16:30.
Phoned to say he would be late and it would be 18:00 instead. At 19:30 finally found out from the store, after we phoned them, that he is on his way home with no explanation. Would you give him another chance or sack it all together? Last edited by Mwp4me; 01-18-2013 at 02:10 PM.. |

imo i would tell them to sling there hook if they cant be bothered to keep u informed of what is happening then they cant really value ur custom which i think is a mistake in the current economic climate and i am sure there are a lot more companys out there who will value ur custom it may be a blessing in disgiuse as u could have given them ur custom and it could have turned into a nightmare so i would find someone else its a buyers market they need u more than u need them good luck in ur search

Yeah, from experience (I'm in the construction trade) if a company acts like that don't go there.
I wouldn't dream of treating anyone like that. Find yourself a nice small buisness to deal with that actually cares and will look after you. After all a kitchen is a reasonably big purchase. |

My advice would be to invite him over again and plan to be away at that time or politely inform him (when (if) he turns up) that it's not convenient. Waste some of his time
I cannot believe people like this, especially with the current situation and would certainly not entertain a visit from him. There's plenty of other providers out there and when you're spending so much, you want to be selective with who you choose! |

Inform his manager about what has happened, how much you were going to spend and that they can now f*** right off.
These type of people and companies deserve to go out of business. Its a personal bug bear that these shops moan about how hard times are yet they are not willing to put in even the basic work needed to make a business a success......fuck em! |

See how much they will discount the build by to keep your custom. If no movement then sack them.

When changing a kitchen it's the room which causes the most upset. You want to get it done quickly but to a good quality. If these cowboys didn't even have the common courtesy to call and tell you they couldn't make it, would you be happy with the same service mid way through the build? |

I think it's really bad manners and unprofessional for them not to let you know.
I would just leave it and see if they contact you. If they don't then find another company. If they do voice your displeasure at what happened and see what they say. If it's just a 'sorry' then say 'ok, bye'. |

Dude please don't go there.
B&Q are bad news. As I suggested earlier small buisness is the way to go. The thing is with a company like B&Q, you don't know whos going to work on your home! As with a lot of things, its only as good as the installer. Good luck. |

small can be bad too. I would suggest that whomever does the job get a reference from their last three jobs and call them up. We employed a small company check a trade etc and basically had to fire them as they were not competent.
I would speak with management and let them know you are not happy. You should be able to negotiate further discount. Also get a contract with them with time guarantees and penalties.

You'd be better having a G&D or Howdens kitchen fitted by a decent second fix carpenter than spunking money on a B&Q kitchen. Apologies to anyone here who has one, but only people who don't know any better would pay B&Q or Homebase etc to supply & fit a kitchen or bathroom. Seriously, please shop elsewhere.

This! I am forever putting the work right from the squeezed time pushed subbies of B&Q, Homebase etc I agree that in theory it doesn't matter whether a business is small or large, any could end up a mare! However at least with a smaller company you meet the people doing the job & not just sales people, from experience this helps you get exactly what you want & if you get a bad feeling @ time of quotation then move on to the next company. |
