Pro Tuning Freaks Cobb ETune

As some of you guys may be aware I have recently decided to purchase a cobb ap.

Doing some research on these forums PTF (pro tune freaks) seem to have quite a following with a few glowing reviews and these guys are the ones who have been helping VTT (Vargas) tune their new turbo setups.

Their website:

http://protuningfreaks.com/

Info on the E-Tune service:

http://www.protuningfreaks.com/pro-e-tune-cobb-bmw-n54/

Facebok page:

https://www.facebook.com/protuningfreaks

A few reviews:

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=746740

http://blog.protuningfreaks.com/2012...ump-94-octane/

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=842174

I sent Jake a PM http://www.e90post.com/forums/member.php?u=79724
and enquired about if he can do a custom tune for both 98 octane and e70 (thats all thats available in my area) and he said that it will be no problem. He is keen to help us Aussie guys out and offer his E Tune service for $200 (normally $249) and $99 for every additional map required.

How the E-Tune works is that you do the logging yourself, and then email the logs to jake and he will alter the map to suit until you have it spot on.

This is great for the guys who live in remote areas and are reasonably hands on and wish to learn more about tuning.

So let me know if you're keen:

4. ?

It certainly does! I sent some logs to PTF for feedback and was told the car is running great! Can't wait to have it dynoed!

Righto guys we have two more spots left.

This tune isn't an untested tune, we already have a few aussie gusy running this tune. Moe has it in his E92 335i and has recentley ran a 12.3 1/4 @ WSID, and Ian has this tune in his 1M:

Blue = OTS S1+FMIC
Red = PTF 1st version

Ian now has his 4th revision of the tune...

I'm surprised this hasnt been more popular tbh, as I know powertune charge around $800 for S15's & $1100 to dyno tune a GTR!

PTF literally tune 100's of N54's for street/strip/circuit and know their shit, and have provided definate gains over the ots cobb tunes

OK guys can you PM me your details:

Hello,
We are more than ready and willing to get this taken care of. What i will need you to do, is send me a list of names of all the people who are interested, and ready to go. Also, does everyone already have an Access Port? If they do not already have one, please note that next to their names when you send me the list.
As agreed on before, the price was $200 and $99 for every map after that.
So once you get the list sent to me, we will get a coupon code made for everyone to use on the site.

Here is a list of what we need for each individual in order to get this started.
Full Name:
Forum Name:
Email:
Model Year:
Model:
Automatic/Manual/DCT:
Modifications:
Fuel we are tuning for (91 or 93 / or equivalent in RON, e85 blend, meth, etc)

Looking forward to hearing back from you.

PTF

I've just uploaded my 98RON starter map (V1) and so far so good! Boost appears to come on strong and a lot sooner. In saying that - I've only been on a short 20 minute drive to work this morning.

One thing to note (if not known already) this map took around 8 minutes to upload rather than the usual 90 seconds for OTS maps.

That's great news!

But ... from that, it seems the guys at PTF have been in touch with you. But I have not been contacted. I followed Jake's instructions and registered/paid using the GB code (and have invoice). I have been waiting for the next step which was supposed to be an email from either of the guys explaining how the tuning process works. I am still waiting! I may have to email them myself ...

You should have received an email from them requesting rom type and serial # of your cobb, just shoot them through an email

That's the trouble with a lot of info out there, sifting the truth from guys who have actually experienced and used a product rather then the crap heresay generated from the keyboard warriors.

Having said that, on the base of things it does sound like a lot of boost but then again its for a short period and some guys (like myself) would only be hitting peak boost on a daily occasion for short periods v's say a track car which hits peak boost for lengthy durations over a period of months.

no need to get upset buddy. just pointing out that for years the tuners and turbo upgrade chaps (think shiv, terry and RB) have all said 20psi is toooo much boost for these little turbos. if you are happy with the results then enjoy

Takes a lot for me to get upset, Im a 3 series owner not a 1M owner remember!

I was just stating that's the problem is sifting through all the info out there and determining hat is deemed proven proof or just heresay.

there were a bunch of discussions about a year ago iirc and everyone was agreeing that the turbos are out of their efficiency over 17ish. sure the numbers peeps are getting are VERY impressive, just gotta ask yourself how long the turbos are gonna hold out. I guess the proof will come in a few thousand k's.

I guess if there are any personal concerns for pushing the boost too high, I'm sure we can let our tuner know what we want peak boost at and not to go over.
