Were you actually physically shifting using the paddle shifters? From what I heard, best way to run the AT Steptronic is to...

1: Turn off DTC/DSC
2: Put it in "Manual" Mode
3: Feather it a little on take off so no tire spin and then pedal to the metal
4: Let the car shift itself at redline through 4th gear

I did that on my first pass. Didnt turn out so well.
After talking to some of the other guys driving 335 AT, I found out that most of them where launching at about 3 to 3.5k and padddle shifting @6k through all the gears. I tried that and improved on the next 3 passes

RT has nothing to do with your 1/4 time or MPH.

I have an auto and i've noticed that my car pulls much harder when i shift before redline by about 400 rpm. Also i've heard that taking off in 2nd works pretty well also.

Same, 6MT here but I have driven with and without the SSTT and either way going much past 6k RPM's slows you down. Car just falls on it's face, I find it best to shift around 6100-6300. Definitely no need to hit anywhere near 7k!
