Wastegate warranty was extended to 8 years/82K miles. Unfortunately, you have too many miles to qualify.

If they are screaming over 300 miles, call BMWUSA.

IMO it's not too bad, i'd just live with it since it's not doing any harm to your car.
If it's killing you inside that you have a waste gate rattle you could always fork up 3-5 grand for new turbos.

you must be joking. you want him to call the corporation and act like a little bitch and whine in order to get something for free because a part that's been run for 100k miles is just now starting to develop a little bit of a rattle?

i cant believe i'm even writing to respond to someone who thinks little rattles should be warrantied after 100k miles. 100k!? seriously?

His car was a CPO...There's a reason why people spend the extra money for extended warranty, cases like this...

I'd try another dealership or call BMWNA, they may be willing to work with you...

Search for robc1976's (i think) post about wastegate adjustment on the front turbo, it's apparently doable. FUD=99 on the JB4 non-ISO board is a temporary fix because it's limited in it's capability. I would recommend adjusting the wastegate actuator rods, if possible, or upgrade to an ISO board which allows adjustment from 0-100.

per the black and white BMW bulletin, you must have "turbo failure" due to a defect In wastegate to be covered under the BMW extended warranty

if there is no turbo failure and only wastegate rattle then it is not covered under warranty if you are outside your CPO or the original warranty

FUD=99 only works on non-ISO boards.

There is one G5 board, but two forms of boost control. Can you take a screenshot of your JB4 screen showing the firmware? That will tell you if you have an iso or not.
