Fining speeding drivers an extra 15 pounds to give to victims of domestic abuse. No disrespect to victims of that heinous crime but what's it got to do with speeding?! Drivers are a soft target that's what.

1200 people killed by speeding idiots last year, and this Mr Smith, whoever he is, has the gall to call these killer drivers "ordinary, responsible motorists."! We should listen to road safety groups, not obscure pro-speeding pressure groups.

.... which is why it's no longer called road tax. When the EU brought in legislation that the revenue raised by a tax had to be spent on what it is called it suddenly changed to vehicle excise duty

this tax situation really is getting ridiculous, ok we get it, you want to cut down on the amount of motorists - do they not get that this is simply not going to happen??? all it is doing is pi$$ing people right off!

if they want to cut down on motorists, maybe they should have more stringent rules on who is or isn't allowed in the country... and i don't mean this in a racist manner in the slightest, just from a pure logistics point of view there just isnt the space on our small island!!!

for example, apparently we now have in excess of 1.5 MILLION (!!!) polish people here, now dont get me wrong, i love polish people and can damn near understand the language thanks to some of my polish mates, but one point five million!!!

(note: 50% of my mates are from ethnic minorities so dont nobody go taking that the wrong way you hear!)

Until the latest legal changes allowing free travel from the new european countries imigration and emigration resulted in an annual reduction in our population. The influx of people from the new eu member states has increased the population. However for the most part, due to the current high employment rate this has been helpful. Plus the majority are paying taxes.
