I had RDSport back in the day and they worked fine. Those were axle back (mufflers only), but they do offer a full down-pipe back.

i'm pretty damn sure that all the exhausts are compatible with i or xi. The only difference with the exhausts is whether you have an E90 or E92.

I can't seem to find them now, but I know I saw a few on **********s that specifically said they wouldn't work on XI models. I'm not sure what the reasoning is, but I imagine it has something to do with the AWD system getting in the way.

HKS outperformed the Autobahn Exotic exhaust system in the last issue of Grassroots Motorsports.

The price, sound, look, quality, and performance #s, exceeded AE set up. If I hadn't gone with a muffler delete, I would of done HKS.

In case anyone missed it, VK Motorwerks is holding a ridiculous group buy on their downpipes which have been tested and proven to fit the 335xi.

You can purchase them here for $300!!!!

While it has already been posted on the list I wanted to verify that the Borla exhaust for the XI fits. The version that comes for the XI is the revised separate mufflers type not the original large single muffler design.

An advantage or disadvantage depending on perspective is that the Borla revised exhaust does not eliminate the secondary Cats. It is therefore fully emission legal in design. The pipes start after the secondary cats and require the muffler shop to cut the pipes and slip joint them after the secondary cats. Build quality is excellent and any decent muffler shop can install them without major headaches.

Billy Boat

I just did the Billy Boat on my 335ix and it is down right awesome.

They are the only company to use the existing pneumatic flapper valve like the factory system does.

I will have a full write up tomorrow.

Well two days with the Borla and I honestly hate it. The vibrations from the exhaust is causing the rear console lid to make an annoying rattle at 1500-2200rpm range. The entire car vibrates in that rpm range and drones on the highway since the steptronic keeps the rpms right near 1500 to 2000rpm range. Everytime I step on the gas from a stop or trying to go from 55-65mph I get vibrations and rattle and loud exhaust rumbling.

The louder noise does not sound any better and if anything sounds worse than stock. Yet, after 2500rpms the exhaust magically gets quieter again and sounds much better but really not much louder than stock. The problem is I spend far more time cruising in drone and vibrations and the tradeoff stinks.

I am going to research my options to reduce or eliminate this annoying low rpm drone. If all else fails I'll have to buy a whole new system or reinstall the stock mufflers. Good thing I anticipated this and kept the stock mufflers.

Update: I talked to Borla and it seems their website failed to indicate I could've ordered the milder sounding unit. They are looking into some venturies to see if I can use it to change the pitch and tone of the exhaust and change out the effect.

Haha that is funny! I thought I was going crazy trying to find the same rattle after putting my exhaust on my car. Come to find out it was the console lid

I took a pair of winter gloves and shoved those bitches in there and forced the lid closed so the gloves held pressure on it. Problem solved.

Oh and you can add the Turner Motorsports Exhaust to the list. I have it on my E92 335xi and it will fit E90 xi's as well.

I am noticing the same thing as awdftw and Turbomatic with the Borla exhaust. I am thinking about switching it back to stock and then doing the AR downpipes instead. I do believe I would gain more power with DP's than with the exhaust anyway.

I will say that overall I do like the sound of the Borla exhaust though, but I don't love the rattle in the midrange.

This is an old thread but I thought I'd add my 2 cents.

Any exhaust system from the downpipes back (full exhaust) is not guaranteed to fit the xi. The xi's transfer case may get in the way.

Heres a couple more datapoints for a couple obscure exhausts:

Milltek e92 exhaust -- does not fit the xi.

Britalman e92 exhaust -- fits fine.

And the lid in the back storage compartment will rattle like a bitch with any exhaust on any 335. Stuff it with something.

Anyone have any experience with the BMW Performance Exhaust? Also, I have a 2011 335i x-drive sedan with the new N55 motor. Any of the above options fit my car? I'm just looking for more performance and not something real loud. Any thoughts? Thx!

Vanguard Exhaust will not fit the e90 335XI. The transfer case gets in the way. For those of you who think the only difference is between coupe and sedan and that XI to non-XI does not come into play, you need to do your homework. I didn't do mine and I am paying for it now.

Can we start a confirmed list of those that don't fit?

2007 335XI Sedan 6MT - VANGUARD will not fit.

I'm running VK downpipes and the VRSF 3.5" exhaust. I love it. No drone, tons of turbo whistle, and nice rumble. It's much better than the VK downpipes and muffler delete combo I was running previously...
