Logic7 Sounds System. how good? vs stock stereo.
Sound system is one of the main concern for me when it comes
down to cars as I am really a music person. Good low-end with bass and crisp clear highs are a must for me. I was wondering if Logic 7 sound system is good or not? how about when its compared to stock(non-logic7) system? I never heard BMW factory audio before so I really don't know what im expecting here. Does it have enough bass for a factory stereo? Clear sound? no distortion at high volume? Also, I heard its 13-speakers and speed sensitive?

if you're listening to pop/rock/rap it doesn't usually make a difference.
if you're listening to classical/trance/techno you can hear the difference.

I'm thinking of just adding an 8-10 inch sub cannon in the trunk to give me the knock I am looking for. The stock system is pretty decent

i have logic 7 and it sounds great.
when u scroll to the music options, it allows u turn on/off logic 7. i noticed that when it's on, the music tends to shift to the front of the cabin and the rear speakers loses vocal. is this normal? |

I think it sounds awesome! It's a HUGE improvement over the Harman system I had on my E46 M3.
I found that it sounds best when you turn the bass almost all the way up, and turn the treble all the way up. When you adjust the settings this way, it comes alive and you can crank it with crisp highs, tight bass, and virtually no distortion. |

What makes the logic 7 fantastic isn't the logic 7 processing, it's the speakers and how well they are managed and matched to each other. It also has the most customizable EQ I've ever seen on a car. If you know what you're doing in tuning the system, it can rival a very good home system for clarity and sound quality.

I'm still on the E46 H-K Logic 7 for a few more weeks, but I have compared it to stock E46 systems with all the loaners cars I have driven over the years, and I can tell you the difference is very noticeable unless you aren't into music or you keep the volume below whisper levels.
I am hoping that this difference holds true with E90's; I'm also hoping that the E90's Logic 7 is much improved over the E46. Finally - there was a TSB on E46's (at least for the coupe) to fix rattling parcel shelfs. I still have a problem with this, which ends up as major distortion when cranked on high. I hope this doesn't happen to the E90's too b/c it's annoying. Bottom line: Unless you are a true audiophile that plans to build your own system, ITS WORTH IT.

If we're getting really picky, I'll agree with you that it doesn't come close to a SACD linked to a top home system in a listening room, with custom built matched speakers, but for the real world, it's pretty good. It might not be audiophile quality, but I spent 8 years mixing front of house on some very serious systems, and the high end details are very good on the logic7. The mids are a bit lackluster in my opinion and I still haven't been able to get them to sound how I want them by EQing. They very wisely put the high pass frequency for the subs between 150 and 200Hz. None of that damn rumbling that you get with a lot of Rap systems. Kick drums sound fantastic, provided you don't undo their good work by boosting the 200Hz fader too high. So I'll agree with you, not audiophile quality, but pretty damn good.
