Yeah it's their demo. Going to confirm collection on Saturday morning and then I have a 2 1/2 hour drive home.

Can think of worse places to sit for 2 1/2 hours!

EDIT..that has to be the coolest gear selector know to man.

Congrats on the new born!

Love the interior of the A8....just find the exterior a bit....meh....but that engine is a peach (had it in the Touareg).

Enjoy!

Collected car last night. This morning setting off to work a lorry has dragged his trailer along the drivers side while I was stationary ripping holes in the drivers side doors and scrapping all along the side.

I have a witness who watched the accident and saw that I had pulled over and he kept going and I have a confession recorded of the lorry driver admitting he did it.

Fucking gutted!

OMG...that is shocking news

A nice car and good deal (makes my potential e-coupe deal look weak!) but what a terrible first day with the car. Hope it all gets sorted Scott.

Blimey, that is very bad news. I feel for you, and one day one with the car. Hope you get it sorted soon, but it sounds lilke a lot of damage.

That is shocking mate, really feel for you only having the car one day.

Thing to remember is that car can be fixed, the main thing is that is that you and anyone else is the car is ok.

I'll post some pics of it. Insurer thinks they will just admit fault as I have a witness and recording of drive admitting fault.

Apart from that the car should just need two new panels but we wil see.

It was a bargain and a superb work vehicle but Im in the process of having a garage built for a weekend car and Im just fed up of being hit by other drivers I don't see the point of buying nice vehicles! This is the fifth time I have been hit by other drivers in 4 years. Im like a bloody magnet!

lorry driver tried to say he coundnt stop and it was both our fault , then the witness came over and told him he had watched everything, how I'd stopped and he decided to carry on. He then admits to it after the witness and apologised, I recorded him saying he was at fault.

On another note adaptive cruise is brilliant with lane and side assist. Would always spec these option if possible for a work vehicle but IMO night vision might look impressive but I just can't see the point of it. You have to look down to look at the screen which slightly neglects the whole pointof this feature ,though it does beep when it detects people in the distance .

The massage seats work too - a lot better than I thought they would.

Bugger . I have an automatic golf coming to replace my car. Yum

Shit, sorry to read about the accident. Hope your insurance get your car back to you, better than new, as soon as possible.

It looks like its going to be just two panels needed but can anyone tell me if there is any point in claiming that this has devalued my car come resale?

If its just the two door panels that's needed will this show on HPI check or because it's just the bodywork will this be registered at all ?

Regards

I had a similar situation with my 3 series. Had to have 2 new doors and paint. About £1800 of damage and nothing was recorded, nothing showed on hpi.

I think it's only when it's a cat d or above its registered..

Oh and no it didn't affect resale, just make sure it's a top job. The only was you will ever tell is with a paint depth gauge and most normal people carry them :-)

Scott what a fukin' pain!!

Great car though, I had one for 2 days and I would own one tomorrow, absolutely loved it!

I would actually have a new 3.0tdi twin turbo A6 avant as well over anything from BMW and Merc at the moment, they have really moved things on a lot with this generation.

£9k off list?

I specced one up at £68,000.
I would want it to be more like £40k

I don't know if its me getting old Guy but I wanted 4x4 and they're just such good value. Hopefully it will be back soon and I can start enjoying it as I don't fancy driving back and forth to my shops in a golf for very long.

I have a deposit on the new RS6 but IMO I was so impressed with the A8's value that I'm starting to dislike the idea of buying new on pretty much anything.

Anyway hope the family are well and business is good for you in this new year

Regards

Scott

Congrats on the baby, and the car also.

I had an 05 a8 3.0tdi, by far the quietest most comfy car I have ever had the pleasure of owning. The air suspension is amazing, lights up like the bridge of the uss enterprise, and is just a very pleasant place to be. Just felt a little disconnected from the road, but its not a sports car (saying that the newer ones do get a hustle on). Very light for what they are too and I'd have one over a 7 series any day.
