15 years i've had a poster of a yellow E46 M3 at work, still looks great to this day imo. A true legend of a car the E46.

Now that's a car that's truly the best definition of a road going M3. All components built to enhance performance. No compromises. Makes my E92 seem like a 7 series lol.
If only BMW would be willing to create a M - GTR tier car to those willing to pay the coin...defined as utilizing the exact block/engine in DTM (V8 NA etc.), and other M racing enhancements, meeting minimum street legal rules worldwide. Clearly, it won't be making a lion's share of profits for BMW - perhaps breakeven, but it can be a halo series that continues to help elevate the BMW brand as the ultimate driving machine. Wow, that's the most detailed write-up on the E46 M3 GTR road car I've ever seen. I'm glad BMW is finally divulging more info and bringing the car out of hiding. Maybe someday they'll allow a magazine to do a comparison test between this and an E46 M3 CSL. That would make for one hell of a read.

The same company that made that car is now making these:
and these: and this: Talk about a fall from grace.

bahasad, look at it this way: thanks to the money generated by those boats, uh sorry, I meant "other cars", BMW is capable of, and prepared to, build the niche cars that may attract our attention.
Watch out for the CSL revival - it's coming.

this sort of mentality would be acceptable if BMW had SHUTTERED the M division in favor of active tourers and hybrids.... but since they haven't... that just makes you a hater and haters gonna hate... Fall from grace? speak for yourself.. you have no grace.. Sure glad I wasn't dumb enough to believe in stuff like this when the 1M came out..... and then the F80 M3/M4 came out after..... and now there is an M2 coming... and an M4 GTS.... and likely further sportscars.... yeah it's just a horrible time to be a BMW fan.. |

Always thought a V8 e46 would be the ultimate machine...Didn't realize they made 3 of them
BMW should do an 'R' or 'GTR' series of vehicles (consistently and import them to NA) that are above the performance of the M series. This would align with other sports car manufactures (Mercedes, Porsche, or Ford to name a few). |

At that time, BMW was at the top of their game in all segments - e46, e39, e38. Not so much anymore. Stop riding BMWs dick and admit that when this car was produced, they had their focus on building the best cars. My 0.02 cents.

That is a bad ass looking car! The current BMW designers should take notes.

I wonder how they beefed up the rear subframe in the GTR to handle the extra power? Maybe helpful when updating your E46M.

That GTR is just amazing and probably my favorite iteration of the E46 M3 with the CSL a close second.
Three things are annoying to me though LOL........No xenons (i know weight savings), No LED tails and needs wider wheels and tires or spacers and wider tires..... Still Sexy as hell.
