I think that Ray Reardon was probably driving. He wouldn't be able to see gingers with his glasses upside down due to the high levels of diffraction arising from 'ginger light'.

If it was Ray Reardon driving then it might be Dennis Taylor in the bonnet. I think these pictures were taken on the ring road just outside The Crucible as well...
