Any plans to do this again? Wouldn't you know I decide to drive my 08xi 6at cpo car with 92k on a trip up north and was greeted with a cammed v8 cold idle and jerky acceleration until engine warms for ~5 minutes, however this may be an injector and its not throwing any codes. Does cpo cover the blasting *frustrated*, runs/idles/accelerates perfectly warmed up.
Plugs are 3k old, no ignition misfire, mild and wot are perfect. Got 28.6 mpg over 330 miles despite the cold behavior with average speed of 80mph and a few 120mph passing pulls |

Thanks everyone for the kind words!
Big thanks to Steve and Brandon for helping make all of this happen! It was great meeting and getting to know all of you guys a little better. I seriously couldn't have asked for a better group and you all definitely made my job a lot easier. Make sure to stay in touch and if any of you need anything I'm just an email/call away. -Kent |

It was great to meet everyone and I had great time hanging out in SP3333D's property Off roading, hitting golf balls, beer on tap, and seeing other cars. It was a blast. Huge props to TIC for coming through to MI as well! Great work, fast, and very happy with the result. I'll let the picture do the talking.
On the side note, my intake caved in due to high heat in my engine bay. My car's intake was probably choking for long time. Thanks to Kent, he heat gunned it back to shape, but I just wanted to bring it out there for other's who has AFE intake and might have the same issue.

Folks,
Became a new member after running into this thread searching for rough idle and walnut blast. While I was on waitlist, Kent was kind to call and let me know he would have time to do my car on Sunday. Thanks Kent. I bought my car in sep 2013 and had my CPO until end of oct 2013. When I reported this issue during my CPO time, the sales guy said it was normal and I thought a can of fuel system cleaner would smooth it out but soon came to realize about this carbon build up. I gave a shot by calling BMW CPO guys last week and said that they should take care of this and they were kind enough to consider it and had me take the car to the dealer to inspect. My car is with the dealer and apparently looking at the plugs and with 78K miles they believe they would have to carbon blast. BMW NA will let me know by tomorrow about what they will be covering. I hope they take care of it. If not, I have to get it done next time when you all arrange for an other one in MI. Thanks to people who have posted their before/after pictures. Thanks again Kent. |

I really didn't have any symptoms that were noticeable. Maybe slight engine shaking in the start up once a while, but nothing too out of ordinary. But, now that I have it cleaned, I am keeping track of my MPG as well as my AFR. There is no way my air flow was normal with all that gunk blocking the passage (And the intake choke). I am sure that it has been robbing few HP all this time. Also, I did read a post where someone dyno'ed their car after the walnut blasting and saw few HP gains.

I have 93k and am experiencing a shaking low idle when started cold, no codes stored, WOT fuel trims are 8% richer on one bank, however trims are +/- 1% at steady cruise and low airflow, no misfires ever.
Runs perfect once it's warmed up, plugs are 3k old and this problem just began so I'm wondering if it's due to the carbon in the ports... they have never been serviced. In it's current state I drove it 330 mi over the weekend and got 28.6mpg @ 78mph so if that improves and my cold start problems disappear, even better. I'll be doing a full before/after and review with this shop here on the west side of the state when it's finished so other guys in West Michigan can get this done for a reasonable price.

Awesome time, thanks to Steve for hosting and TiC being cool dudes and taking care of this for all of us. It was worth the wait!!!
I forgot to grab after pics, but my before ones looked like many in this thread at 57k miles. I immediately noticed smoother performance and cruising on the ride home. In addition, I had a rough idle and this cured that. I track my MPGs religiously and am excited to see if there is any sort of marginal improvement. Great weekend, glad everyone had such a solid time. Some of those vids look crazy, love the WRC style XI action!
