I have BMW Warrenty... i know fitment of an Aftermarket intercooler will void, but if i return it to stock before going in, would they really void me just because of a cut/modified shroud?
Why would it void your warranty? The only thing that wouldn’t be covered would be the FMIC. Unless BMW can show the modifications were a direct cause of a part failure would they ever attempt to void warranty for that specific part… The law is very clear on this, so before you say the dealership will void your warranty for installing an aftermarket part on your car, you should really know your rights as a consumer. It’s your car, not theirs.

Thanks bud, that was a reassuring read.

Here is one more scenario... (SORRY FOR THE THREAD JACK)... If i go in for turbo/wastegate rattle, and BMW see the shroud has been cut. Could they put two and two together?

Best,

Josh

Best,

I can tell you now there isn't much they can do with the rattle. PROcede has an option to correct this, but even with it set to 30% it still rattles when it's cold. The techs at the dealership told me that one side is easy to get to and adjust, but that otherside is almost impossible. They even said that after adjustment it would still probably rattle. You may want to do some more research before pissing off your techs by making them fix something that possibly can't be fixed. As for the shroud, again what does that have to do with anything? You own the car. Now if you lease the car, that could be a differant situation...

I ordered the Godspeed FMIC off ebay for $165, plus the plumbing parts for $160. I found some FMIC closer to $130 but they were all smaller and I didn't want to haggle back and forth with offers.

I'm hoping the install is pretty straightforward
