Downside to springs?

Hey guys! I'm Looking into buying H&R Sport Springs, Don't know too much about suspension. Is there a downside to spring's? What are some common issues that come along with them? Can I install them myself, or would ya'll recommend having someone install them? Please let me know, thanks!

Changing the springs to drop the car will shorten the life of your stock shocks. Recomend upgrading you shocks as well or get a cup kit. If budget is not limited, then get a coilovers. Now regarding installation, you mentioned that you do not know too much about suspension, better have it installed by a reputable shop.

Car has 49k miles on it and is a DD. I drive about 20-30 miles a day. By how much will shock life be shortened? And also, are new shocks pricey?

They put pressure on your stock shocks and the life of them are shortened..there's no cheap way to lowering a car..especially our BMWs. Your BEST bet is to get a coilover set up..KW or STs idk look into it. I got KW V1s and I absolutely love them, you get what you pay for. Or you can get a shock and spring set up and save yourself a few bills. You won't regret it

Many factors plays on that setup. It's not just how far you drive but also road condition, driving style, etc. Bottom line is stock shocks are designed on a specific spring rates. Naturally, if you put more pressure than it is designed for, it will shorten it's lifespan. Now, being pricey all depends on how much are capable of spending. To some, having coilovers is nothing. I guess if you can't buy it in cash and charge it, it is too expensive. Just my opinion...
