Difference between Procede & JB3 Meth controlling

Does the JB3 do progressive methanol mapping? Or do you have to use a progressive controller?
From what I read so far the Procede doesn't need a controller. Is that correct?

With the JB3 there are a few options now and more in the works:

Meth side:
1) Progressive controller like the CMGS/VC2.
2) Basic boost switch.
3) Under development: Trigger the progressive meth flow from the JB3 directly using a cheap/free transistor connected to pin 4 on the DB9 connector.

Tuning side:
1) Custom map based on IAT decay. You setup the JB3 to run higher boost levels as air intake temps drop from the meth. If the meth stops or never turns on IAT will remain high and you'll hit normal boost levels. You can even set it up to return to stock boost levels as IAT increases if you're so inclined. Advantage is its free and easy to setup. Disadvantage is with a meth failure it takes a few seconds for the IAT signal to increase and boost to drop. It's a good safety but not as good as options 2 & 3.

2) Map trigger. Setup your CMGS/VC2 controller to alert the JB3 when methanol flow is within a window. This guarantees methanol is flowing before boost is increased and ramps boost down if methanol stops instantly. If a line comes off and flow takes off with none going in the motor the
CMGS/VC2 will also alert the JB3 to revert back to the lower map.

3) Under development: One of the JB3 map switch pins is connected to a location that can measure digital frequency. You will be able to connect your CMGS flow sensor to this digital pin and have the JB3 progressively increase boost as methanol flow increases. The advantage of this is you'll have a datalog of the methanol flow in relation to boost, rpm, etc.

Thanks for the info.
So does the JB3 offer Progressive methanol mapping with the transistor?

Biggest differences:

-Procede doesn't make the map more aggressive until it sees actual methanol flow which is provided directly into one of its unused analog inputs by the injection failsafe device. As actual meth flow increases, the mapping gets progressively more and more aggressive. Because our progressive mapping is configured feedforward system (instead of a feedback system), there is never a point at which you will experience an aggressive map without sufficient meth flow. So, in effect, it also acts as a perfectly functional safeguard against meth system failure.

-Procede isn't just a boost controller. Instead, it actually adjusts ignition timing AND boost pressure as a function of meth flow. This adds safety, consistency and above all POWER since it doesn't rely on the DME to adapt to effective octane changes (from when running off or on meth). The extra power delivered once meth is flowing is instantaneous and free of adaption requirements. In other words, it's a complete immediate tune adjustment as there is NO need to wait for DME knock control adaption to take place.

Neither sprays methanol progressively based on boost or RPM. You need a separate controller.

Shiv just mentioned that the Procede is doing the controlling. Why would you need a separate controller?

The procede is progressively adjusting the tune based upon meth flow. It isn't progressively controlling the meth pump at this time. I'll probably leave that task to the methanol controller since we have better use planned for
the extra digital ouputs.
