retro fit projectors and angel eyes question

Update on page 2 day article in progress as well.

Hey guys I'm planning on retrofitting some mormito projectors into my factory halogen lights. I was wondering what a guy angel eye to purchase would be. Also when installing the halos I was wondering how to wire them so I don't get any codes on a 2008 328xi. I know what I'm doing here just wondering if there is any wiring I'm not aware of. Thanks guys!

Since you don't have angel eye bulbs, it seems like you're going to need a wiring harness. If you're doing all the work in opening up your headlights, reward yourself with some nice angel eyes. Orion v4s from Umnitzas look absolutely stunning. I just purchased a set of them and FX-R projectors and I'm planning to do a DIY when I retrofit them in next week.

okay guys got my ebay lights today and honestly so far im shocked at the quality they look really nice. Im sure the projectors and angel eyes are trash but i dont care because they are getting replaced. But from what i can see they seem to be built pretty well for what i paid. Havnt yet tried them on the car will do so tomorrow to see what the halos look like and how bad the projectors are for the hell of it. Not sure how they have the halos wired but everything is wired inside so im curious to see if they come on with the parking lights etc. Here is a few pics of the lights since i just opened them up.

Are you planning to replace the angel eyes as well? I tried a set of headlights just like that a while back, but they were the euro style (no ambers). The quality really did look surprisingly good, like you said. I sent them back after the first day because the angel eyes failed on my second drive after installing them (probably just blew the ballast). The AEs on the ones you have are most likely CCFL tubes with the ballast inside the headlight housing. They will come on with the parking lights. I had originally planned to do the same project as you, and replace all of the innards with better stuff after running them for a while, but ended up not feeling like devoting enough time to learn about retrofitting HIDs/projectors and LED AEs at that time. If you don't replace the AEs, I'd look into making the ballasts more easy to get to, in case they go out once you've sealed the lights back up. I think the ballast is the most common thing to fail on the CCFLs, and should be able to be easily and cheaply changed. Good luck, man. This could be a sweet project for us halogen guys that don't want to drop $2000.

Yes I do plan on putting in LED angel eyes as they are ccfl and the quality is pretty damn good I'm shocked just hooked a light for test halos don't look bad but like you said im sure they will burn out so I will still replace them.

Yea I'd like those much more if they weren't amber on the corners...

Anxious to see your progress and what you do as I'm thinking of going very similar route

As of now im shopping angel eyes as i dont wanna shell out 300 or what ever for a set of umnitza ones. Im trying to build this lights as cheap as possibly without losing too much quality. And as of the amber they will be getting painted or something. Im also looking into a yellow led angel eye what u guys think.

Kind of late...but I bought depos. Changed the projectors to morimoto mini bi-xenon. And used Orion v2 angel eyes. The headlights already came pre-wired so the angel eyes were just plug and play.

Quick update for now. I split open one light today and took everything apart need to do a little fabrication to fit in my new projector. Everything went smooth lights were a bitch and took about 2hrs to get apart I have pictures of everything. As I stated before ill be putting together DIY article with detailed pictures in the future.

diy will be based off my headlights which may differ from some others. I see why its so hard to make a diy because most of the work kind of not sure what u have to do until you get to it lol. These are the headlights im using for my retrofit. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Black-06-08-...44f71e&vxp=mtr
