I have been using a DVD I made from the East image file and I have noticed that the DVD player in the car seems to be seeking a but more since I am hearing the head move. Not sure if I am just more tuned into it. But I was wondering if the .iso file was created initially using RAW mode copy? It may be possible that the data on the NAV DVD is organized specifically in the original DVD to minimize disk seeks. Just guessing here. And that a non-RAW mode copy of the original disk physically rearranges sectors in the image (.iso) file.

Is there some sort of free update if your car is under warranty?

I did do a raw mode copy. What you've burned should be sector-to-sector identical to the disks I bought; however, who knows what bmwmaps.com did. They obviously modified the originals for the speed cams, etc. so if anyone is to blame for any oddness, it's them. FWIW, I use the East DVD and I have not noticed anything out of the ordinary.

Same I got a burned copy for bmwnavigationmaps.com and it seems to seek 3x more than it did with my old original copy.

Probably a bad copy. Mine routes directions alot faster than my 09 disc. That was burned too though.

is there a specific way to burn the files to the DVD? I burned the data to a DVD as DATA FILE and that didn't work?

I don't think this will work with a 2009. You have to install a different DVD and then use an enabling code to make it work. You can only get the enabling code from BMW as far as I know.

The file you downloaded should be a .zip file. Inside the zip file is an .iso file. Unzip the zip file and you should have a .iso file that can be burned as-is with most DVD burning software. I recommend imgburn for PCs.
