My first time at the track I didn't run anything lower than a 13.4-13.5... Since then I've used the short method from BuraQ and was running low 13.1's with almost BALD rear tires. I am confident I can break the 13's now that I put on new Michelin PSS's. As you can see, the time shaved off from the proper launch is very significant. I even made a thread my self you can find and see my progress till I finally got it down with the help of BuraQ. It'll just take practice man but I gurantee you will love the car that much more once you can get it done everytime. GL bud
I think I can do it, I just didn't know it was possible. I thought if you take your foot off the gas and it goes below the kickdown switch that it will cancel launch control. I have a 6 speed drag car so foot work and feathering the throttle is nothing new to me

I did manage to run 12.5's at a consistent 115 mph though at the "worse" track. Lots of spinning though and 2.2ish 60 foots. And that was on I believe a pump gas OTS Cobb tune but it may have been the OTS E30 Cobb tune. Either way when I go back there it will be with the Wedge E60 tune. I just need to get my car back from the body shop now from the damn deer

This is how I use launch control at the track

Hey guys, finally installed the JB4 on the IS and it seems pretty good. Running Map 2 for now and will try map 5 with some hard pulls in the near future. I also have the 2 step relay. I was thinking about getting catless downpipes next but keeping the secondary cats and everything else stock. Will 2-step ruin the secondary cats (if not used often/very short periods (1-2 seconds)? Will I be able to pass NYS inspection with only secondary cats?

Thanks

Hey man, congrats on the upgrades... Don't wait to throw on some DPs, I've had my set sitting in the garage now for awhile and over the weekend I decided to throw them on and WOW do they sound incredible through the IS exhaust.

I ran into a dude at the mall about a month ago who had a regular I e90 with DPs and the stock exhaust and to be honest I wasn't to happy with the sound and probably one of the reasons I held off this long to be honest. With the stock IS exhaust it sounds totally different and sounds mean!

I'm not sure how the o2 are with the JB as I'm running a pro tune Cobb AP but with the Cobb no check engine lights so far. If you do have problems there seem to be a few o2 simulators to take care of that so your good either way I would imagine. The DPs also added a little more get up and go but not as much as I was hoping/expecting from everything I've read. Still slightly noticeable and worth it just for the new exhaust note.

Hahaha thanks! I think the tunes clear it out from the dashboard, but an inspection station would still be able to see an error through the ODBII and show "not ready" or something of that sort. I'm in no rush, but I would like to get catless downpipes. I'm really just worried about passing inspection. I know we have primary cats and secondary cats, that said, I'm just hoping it would be possible to pass inspection with catless DPs but secondary cats still intact here in New York.

12.5 is not bad, what other mods do you have beside cobb and using e85?... I tried looking on drag times and couldn't find anything, but I wonder if any IS here or in the nation has broken 13's completely stock..

From NY here and I have catless downpipes with jb4, I never once got a check engine for it and I passed the state inspection even when plugged into the OBDII

Dang that porsche is hot!

Question for those running a Cobb tune, did your IS run perfectly after flash or was there a lot of tweaking to do? I just installed a CP+tial BOV and running stage 1 aggressive (yes I have access to 93 octane) and it seems like some adjustment still needs to be done

I don't think that they were in any particular order.

My IS is running beastly on 93 with BuraQ/Wedge tune via Cobb AP. I have AR DP's, K&N drop-in, and Cyba air scoops. My car is running super smooth with LOTS of torque. Let's just say I was able to hang with a Z06 during five to six 60-120 pulls. That wouldn't even been close with the PROcede that I had installed previously.

The OTS Cobb tunes are pretty weak. I ran the 93 agressive on my stock IS and could hardly tell a difference. I went ahead and dropped the $250 on a BQ/Wedge tune and the difference is night and day. The car has MUCH more power. I would recommend giving them a shot. Its not a lot of coin for the difference it makes.

The COBB OTS Maps are horrible for the 335is with DCT as they are optimized for N54 cars that are 6AT. The map needs to be configured correctly to optimize the DCT performance or else your DCT will start to slip and will have gear to gear delays

We offer the fix which is $50 to only optimizing the DCT shifting or a custom tune $250 . If you decide to only do the $50 now and decide later you want a custom tune the $50 will be credited

BuraQ@mybmw335is.com

Why COBB hasn't fixed this ? I have no idea I have warned them plenty of times years ago and it just got ignored

Here is log of the COBB OTS map and how it delays the DCT which causes a big gap on the timing recovery during post shifts

http://www.datazap.me/u/buraq/cobb-o...6&zoom=112-234

This is what it looks like when the DCT is optimized correctly with the tuning. Little to no timing drops at all during post shift.

+1 for the BuraQ/Wedge tune. Cobb OTS drive-ability was waaaay worse than stock, even though there was a slight power increase.
