alarm no sound

according to my dealer spec it has an alarm, but today I left my dog in the car its a2006 320d m sport ,when i came back its lights where flashing but no sound ,the clown nose flashes so I think it must be working ,Can anybody advise me how to have sound when the alarm goes off,I have tried search but it just seems to bring up retro fits ect

i think there may be a rechargeable battery for the alarm located in the vicinity of one of the wheel wells/mudguards.

I would investigate that line of view if your happy with your fuses

I believe the battery is built into the siren assembly which is in the LR wheel well behind the liner. IIRC the tilt sensor is also built into the siren assembly FWIW.

any idea which fuse it would be as i dont have a fuse list

ok just put windows down and set alarm it all works fine, but why where the indicators flashing with no sound when the dog was locked in???

how long where you gone for?

I think most car alarms will only leave the siren on for a relatively short period.
The idea being to not have the siren blarring for so long that neigbours etc get feed up.
Long enough that anybody nearby who would care would do something, but not so long that it causes a nusance.

I imagine not running the battery dead is also a reason.

The indicators stay flashing to alert you that the alarm was set of.

just my theory anyway...

Sit in your car perfectly still and then hit the lock button on the fob. Wait about a minute then start moving and you will probably hear the alarm!

Security module in e9x is coded to have the alarm
- activate for certain amount of time.
- or till the battery reaches to certain Voltage.

was gone for five mins max , but would have heard the alarm if it had gone off, I have set the alarm off by sitting in it and it sounds the alarm so it does work ,maybe its cos the dog did not sit still and it detected movement from the moment I set the alarm
