Yes, it's a ban, but that is in lieu of roughly 6 points and it will be a SP50 ban (motorway speeding) so it's not like drink driving or careless driving.

The insurers only deal with bans down to 1 month minimum, so I got a 2 week ban but still had to declare a 1 month ban for the next 5 years!!

More of a pain for me was the fact that for 5 whole years you can't hire anything (car/van etc) or have a courtesy car from a garage, or drive any sort of club / group vehicle (football team minibus etc) as 99.9% of these policies will exclude any banned drivers for 5 years.

Hey DB , just came from a meeting with my brief. He thinks with the steps i have taken [ RAC driving course after the offence , hardship plea etc ] I may even get to keep my license. I'm not expecting to but, a shorter ban would be nice.
