Don't make us track you down just to get some pictures man. If we have to, we'll revert to webcams, GPS, and satelite imagery.

It will be so much easier for all of us ..... if you just pull over for a few minutes, take a few pictures, and post them for the rest of us. Then, gas up and get back to it! Don't forget the break-in rules!

Let me just say -- sweet ride rl168! That's a great color -- don't see many in that color.

mstngt66 -- very very nice!

Okay, I finally got the car today! The tint is perfect and the dealership did exactly as I asked -- they didn't wash it and they left the front plate undrilled (even though in Texas you need a front plate. I'm a rebel -- its too pretty to put a plate on it). All of the goodies I negotiated were in the trunk, still in the wrappers.

I have to say, so far this is the perfect car for me. I LOVE it!!!

I half want to just cruise slow, knowing I have absolutely nothing to prove and let everyone take in the full splendor of the car... Then my foot gets the better of me and I tap the gas and in zero seconds I'm doing 80 without it even breathing a sigh of complaint. I don't think the tach has even gone over 2k yet (even with the spirited spurts of pure driving goodness)...

The first thing I did when i got it home was to pop out those horrible side reflectors and pop in the Longtran painted specials -- it took all of about 10 minutes and now I feel more respectable.

I found myself trying to think of things that I could get from the store, just to get back in the car and have another excuse to take the long way and pick up some $1.49 item (again) and take the long way back.

I now find that the best way to shop for supplies is to take a separate trip to the store for each item. This is especially good when there are more than 5 items needed. If there is a rush on delivery for the supplies (i.e. dinner is waiting until they're all here), I find that applying a "rush" delivery is not a problem and makes for a very exhilarating grocery run experience ..

When I finally get it properly washed, I'll take some good shots and post 'em... I can't wait to drive to work tomorrow...

I love the idea Hobbez, I have to stock up on groceries once a week - and I usually buy 20-30 items.... That should rack up some pretty decent driving hours. :P

What are you all doing to "break-in" the car? Variable driving speeds or keeping the tach below a certain RPM for x number of miles? What's the story?

Oh and do you not plan to put on a front plate? Are you just going to drive sans front plate and hope you don't get pulled over?

I've only had the chance to put on about 20 miles so far (and unfortunately, the store is about a mile away, so that takes some of the fun out of it).

So far, I've been taking it relatively easy. I've had a couple of fast starts and pushed it a bit, but it is still quite tame in terms of real driving. I've read that in general, you can't do much to damage a car on break-in by just normal driving. I've also read that giving it a good rip now and again will help seat seals, etc. in the engine for a better overall result.

I'm not sure how to go with it, but I'm probably not going to do anything I wouldn't normally do when I drive (I typically drive "spirited", but in my 4Runner, it seemed like I was racing everywhere -- the same pace in this car is like barely at idle). I'll probably drive it aggressively every now and again through break-in, but not as if I'm taking it to the track and really winding it up...

Oh yeah -- and that front plate thing. I'm just going to be a rebel and leave it off. I've heard I probably won't get too hassled where I'm at in Houston (North of the city). If you're down in the city though, I've heard they'll get on you a bit more about it...

According to the manual, BMW recommends not going over 4500 rev and 100mph during the first 1200 miles. I think I am going to stick to that.

I have no intention to drill holes on my front bumper either

I can't wait to hit the 1200 miles mark!!!

It's good to vary the revs during break-in while keeping it below 4500rpm.

I installed my Euro rear fog switch and factory strut bar yesterday. Both very easy. The strut bar is a waste but it's nice underhood eye candy.

Keep the faith.. As of this morning my CA had no idea where my car was - and then told me that she thought it was still back in customs suddenly. My car was on her report and then it wasn't. Then suddenly today, it showed up at the dealership. It was a total surprise at that point.

So you never know when you will get that call , I hope you get it soon.

My ED drop off was on Sept 4th, so I got the car back in under 5 weeks. I think I got lucky at some stages of the process that shaved some time off.

I just picked the car up - hoping to post some pics later.

Can't wait for the pics. I dropped off on Sept. 3rd and was told that a truck was coming that day or the next - there were a ton of cars waiting for a ride and based upon their Zoll plates they were sitting for a while. We hit things just right.

Enjoy the ride!

Love my 2008 328i!

Here's are a couple of poor quality pics (I didn't take them), but even dirty, this car is bad to the bone. Note the 35% Formula 1 Pinnacle tint. These wheels are a bitch to clean -- did it after these pics.

Question Trade?

Anybody in the DC area interested in trading the wheels on my 2008 328i for your 2008 335i wheels? See my previous post for pics.

Per BMWUSA's owner circle tracking, it looks like my 328xi is on the ship Courage. I'm tracking this ship for the last few days on www.sailwx.info and as of today it is less than 1000 nautical miles to Port NJ/NY.

My sales guy adviced me that it should be here next week. I hope he is right 'cuz I'm so excited to get it.
