Just installed my first mod.

I just installed a JB3 and ran it on map 3 for about 5 miles then hammered it. This car is now a rocket. I dont know if I really need anything more but I say this now. In two weeks I am sure I will need just a little more.

I am trying to decide if the Dinan intake is worth the cash or just get the dual cone most poeple use and take the diffrance and get an intercooler. just glad I got my first mod out of the way.

GRATS! Welcome aboard. I recommend throwing your wallet away now while it does you any good.

Get the DCI.... Go slowly young grasshoppah! Get the DCI, This is coming from a vishnu customer and I have no qualms recommending any of BMS's products or most any other company offering a DCI. They have resale value where as the Dinan will cost you an arm and a leg, provide minimal benefits if any and will leave you without downpipes, meth or something else much more interesting. Personally, I have the STETT CAI and will be soon changing it out for a new line of intake/intercooler piping which wiill be superior soon to be announced by BSH.

I'd suggest taking care of your car before going any further by adding a BSH or AR oil catch can and adding a Rixt3r boost gauge or any other boost gauge for that matter. If you are fiddling with the boost, its important to know exactly what boost you are running or you are just running blind.

Just wait until you try map 7 with race gas. Its about like going from no JB3 to map 3 all over again. I have only been able to experience this once on my car (race gas is so spendy) but it was a huge gain.

Klipseracer, what's your opinion of the Injen intake? How does the Dinan leave you without downpipes, meth and such? I couldn't find pics of the Dinan intake on their site, so I couldn't find the answer myself.

You mean bshspeedshop.com? Is there a thread with more details about this upcoming intake?

Thanks,

Dual cone intake + intercooler upgrade. Glad you are enjoying the car. Modding is expensive, but I still feel like this is a new car since it keeps changing, even though I have had it for 3 years.

I think he is saying that spending all of the money on the Dinan intake could be better spent towards DPs and meth

I have the BMS DCI. I recommend it; it is definitely an addicting sound and the performance vs. cost ratio is great haha. Dinan looks good, but you are paying a lot, and its just not worth it imo

"where as the Dinan will cost you an arm and a leg, provide minimal benefits if any"

If 30+ hp at the top end is a minimal benefit then you're playing in another league entirely.

oh so you've done back to back dyno testing yourself to show the dinan intake making 30+hp over stock vs. a dual cone intake over stock? i'd love to see that data..

That makes more sense, I have yet to read up on Methanol Injection so I wasn't sure whether or not Dinan's CF Intake design could have affected the installation of meth elbows. In any case, Injen's design seems really solid. Don't know if it's "+$300 solid" compared to the BMS DCI, but I like it.

I have no opinion on the injen. I'd assume it works just like the other DCI's however I think I remember compatibility/fitment issues with the injen and other mods like the ER intake manifold or other things. Maybe I'm getting that confused. It looks nice but I have no comment about it since I have no experience with the mod myself.

BSHspeedshop yes, there are currently no details but there will be in a few weeks. But judging off what they have done before, they do quality work and they tell me there is an error in the design of the STETT CAI that they will be rectifying. Something to do with the fact that you've got two turbos sucking from one intake cone. Turbos don't take in air exactly the same, linearly, so they need to operate separately otherwise you're inducing a type of restriction. They're also not fans of the HAI(Hot Air Intake) which is what DCI's are also referred as since you're taking in hot air right off the motor. The stock intake at least takes air from outside. You just need to determine if the flow restriction removal is worth taking in higher IAT's. I won't elaborate I'll let them do that when the time is right.

Exactly... Super Street stickers give 10hp at the 'top end'.
