Roof Wrap!
So, I have had my 328xi for about 3 weeks now. And I am in love with it. I just dropped about $3k for some misc upgrades (Rims, CF pieces, etc.) But, one thing that's been bugging me is wrapping the roof. I know that I am going to do it, but my question is this: should I get it done with a simple Matte Black vinyl, or go with the Carbon Fiber vinyl? As the name says.. 2008 328xi coupe, Alpine White. When the upgrades get here and I get them all put on, pics will be posted!

Do not do matte and do NOT do CF.
A friend of mine does wrapping. CF is a hit or miss. It can look amazing if done well correctly. It can also look terrible and cheap if not. Gloss black ftw.

I don't want to wrap in the cold.. Plus it will dry faster in the heat.
My friend is in Lansing.

You can't wrap it in temperatures lower than 10 celsius. Typical adhesives like the one used with the scotchprint 1080 3M stuff won't adhere in cold temperatures unfortunately. They recommend in the area of 20-25 celsius for proper application and adherence, otherwise you run the risk of it peeling back almost immediately, or not sticking at all.
However, you CAN wrap it inside, where it's warm, and bring it outside immediately. Ive had my roof wrapped for the last 6 months, and it has been perfect this whole time even at temps below -25 celsius, that's -13 f. CF wrap is nice, but it distorts a LOT and if the person isn't used to it, you're losing out on some serious $$ for nothing (62$ a yard by 5 feet). Gloss = panoramic sunroof style, clean and classic look Matte = a bit meaner imo, and also a hit and miss depending on the style of your car including what you've done with it to date.. If you're interested in some FAQ or want to know how it holds up/how it looks underneath when it comes off, check out my website; nelsonmx.com Of course, you can always drive up here to get the roof wrapped, but it may be a bit of a trek lol |

You're right, I'm about to wrap it gloss black and rest of the car white. I tried wrapping sharkfin with CF and it sometimes streches and looses its look and it looks bad!

yeah, do-Noc is ok if used in small areas, like trim or something along those lines. the distortions in the pattern become much more obvious when its used over a large area. looks cheese, imo.
