I have a 2010 335 xdrive with 25k miles I had to replace the front tires because the inside tread was gone. The outer looked new but the inside edge had steel tread exposed like the car drove on the very inside edge of the tire. I have a pull or drift to the right, I have to keep the wheel turned very slightly to the left to keep the car going straight once I let go the car moves to right gradually then dives right. I was told this would get better with new tires, and that BMWs have a tendency to always drift to the right by a BMW service department in the Dallas area. I have since taken my car to another dealer service department for the third time in the passed 10 days to get this taken care of, but no luck. The last time two shop supervisors checked off on it but it continues to do the same thing. The first thing they did was an alignment, next visit rotate the tires because they said I have uneven wear, last visit they adjusted the camber, but nothing has worked anyone have any input, please help.

That BMW service department was full of crap ...BMWs do not drift to the right.

Can you post the alignment sheet?

I am still under warranty, and have paid for the alignment so far, I thought it was BS from the first dealer, that's why I went to BMW of Dallas but they have been unable to get me going straight and they want me to bring the car back again. Anyone have a guess as to what could be going on?

How often have guys needed to get an alignment. I bought the tires at discount tire and they said its unusual for an alignment at this low mileage. I took to a garage for my state inspection and they said the same thing.

I drove 45K miles, half on original tires and half on a new set of 4. Never needed an alignment. Your situation really does sound like an alignment issue. Did they give you an alignment report?

Are we to understand that a BMW dealer with Kinematic alignment machine can't cure your problem?

Time to contact BMWNA engineering. Assuming your ride a collision virgin and serviced according to plan. They inspected and passed your suspension bushings, parts ,etc., right?

BTW, pics or it didn't happen. Post the alignment sheets and let's have a look.

Yes all service has been done and its a collision virgin, I have a kinematics diagnosis report that shows before and after measurements with the after measurements in spec. And the pre measurement are all red which I think means bad...

Shop foreman took a ride with me in my 335 m sport to witness the car drifting to the right, he says there is nothing to correct that its normal to go right due to road crown. He believes with sport suspension the car is just following the road. We drove both local and hwy and when he took his hand off the wheel the car would slowly drift right. I have to keep the wheel just ever so slightly left to keep the car going straight. We took a loaner 335 and it did the same thing is this normal? Do your cars go straight without input? If you let the wheel go do your cars go straight down the road? I can't scan my alignment report I will try and post a picture of it so you guys can see how it's set up after the alignment.

She don't drift right.

But, a crown can make it so....try a level surface, maybe a shopping center parking lot.

I am just not sure whats going on with it, I drive my other cars down the same freeway and they don't veer left or right I dove a loaner X3 and 328 no veer...none of which have a sport suspension. I dared him to pull any car off the lot with sport supension and it would not pull like mine did, first car we jumped in did the same exact thing, he said it will never go straight with out some input its just going to follow the road.

I also experienced some issues with alignment previously where my car was drifting right.

I had my car re-aligned once, but it was still drifting right. So I thought maybe the alignment wasn't done properly.

Then I took it to a reputable tire shop (they do actual racing and corner balancing, etc) to check for alignment and they didn't see any issues with the alignment, but they did notice that the car was pulling right very slightly even on a flat surface.

They first said it might be the tires, so we switched the wheels between the left and the right side, but the car was still pulling right. So we eliminated that this right pull was caused by the wheels or tires.

Then they adjusted the camber to compensate for the right pull, but it didn't fix it either.

Turns out that it was the steering wheel was off centered. So whenever I had the steering wheel on the center, it would naturally drift right.

There can be other issues, too, but I think you'll have to rule things out 1 by 1 to really account for everything. It takes time, but I'm sure you can solve it if you approach this systematically.

So it was your steering wheel after all that? They also thought it was a wheel balance problem but just switched sides as I have a staggered set. During the test drive we went on several roads and paved surfaces with and without crown from single lane rd to 5 lane freeway to parking lots always moved right.

When I had my car aligned after putting in new springs and shocks the dealer said the car was designed to drift very slowly to the right - the idea being if one falls asleep it is better to head towards the side of the road than across it. Hands off on the freeway my car tracks true for several hundred yards, but it may eventually head towards the right more than the left.

I chased a problem with my car for a long time, and it turned out to be bad tire. You might want to try switching side to side to see if it makes a difference.
