Are there custom maps for DCT equipped N54 engines in the 335is and the Z4?

That actually very fair IMO....new user are now able to buy the tune and pay the price they want and the features they want instead of buying the tune thats with all bells and whistle at the top price which MOST people will not use!! Great thinking Shivmeister!

Ok, I know this could be an incredibly dumb question but that low price is making me ask. So If I have no tune whatsoever all I have to do is pay 645 and I get everything needed to make my car have more go go juice? And I get everything that the v4 offered but you just have to pay more for meth, nitrous, etc.?

We will make exceptions for current Rev.2 users who want to transfer their Procede into a new car. But if they decide to sell the Procede to someone else, they can either:

-not update to v5. So that the Procede never VIN locks to their car
-have the new user backdate to v4 which doesn't restrict based upon VIN (even if the Procede was running v5 before and already VIN locked to the seller's car)
-have the new user purchase a new VIN license and run v5

Pretty simple. We wanted to make it so that current Rev.2 units say VIN unlocked forever and ever. But we couldn't do that for reasons that will be obvious soon. Even just one non-VIN locking v5 out there can create a big potential security breach for us. And really piss off a lot of people

Interesting....I see the approach...makes sense.

Considering when people sell these things Shiv still warranties them, will repair them for free...I think basically an option for $150 to lock it to the new car and get support/updates and what not is fair.

For the naysayers, this is still a better situation than us Flash guys...we can't sell it, can't move it to another car etc...1 time shot for $900 and we are out the money. Then we can pay another $50-100 or whatever for a Stage 2. Also, I can't log anything with a GIAC flash, clear codes, do any CAN stuff etc...there is a downside to a flash.

Most people only need the basic Procede anyway.

Yes. I'll be posting the new v5 maps this upcoming week. Along with new user software and documentation.

It will lock to your car. Nothing to worry about. I think the best way to think of the whole VIN locking thing is that it is v5 firmware that locks to the first car it is run on. It is NOT the Procede unit that locks on anything.

So in a nutshell, if we update to V5, our resale value takes a hit since it's VIN locked and the new user will need to purchase a new license.

So even if the new user backdates to a V4 version, if they want to use V5, they will need to purchase a new license in order to use it. If this was in place with the new PROcede units moving forward, that's one thing since the correct expectations are set upon purchase. But if one needs to purchase a license for a unit they already own and not subjected to these new licensing terms, a lot of current rev.2 owners will NOT be happy.

I love the PROcede, I really do. But if one switches to another N54 (like I did recently) and they want to install the PROcede in their new car, or even "lend" the tune out to another user, now we're all SOL? I personally think this is alienating all of the PROcede users out there that paid full price for an UNLOCKED unit and should be able to do as they see fit, sell the unit or otherwise.

I am sure your existing rev.2 userbase would greatly appreciate it if you can assure that WE, who purchased a fully unlocked unit prior to this new tiered pricing structure, will be able to do as we please with our units.

You have answered the many critics about the price-point between the PROcede and JB3.

Congratulations and continue power owning the competition.

If you, or any other current Rev.2 user, wants to install the Procede into a new car that you purchased, we will provide you a new VIN license for free. As for sticking it in friend's cars for a few days or so, we will also make some allowance. We plan to implement a "trial mode" that fully enables the Procede for a period of time when used on an "unauthorized" car.

The new direction we are taking the Procede technology ABSOLUTELY requires that one Procede cannot be handed about from car to car to car. It needs to "partner" with a particular car or everything we have been working towards will be a wasted endeavor. I assure you that no one well be alienated once they see where we are going with things.

Cheers,
Shiv

He said something about a security breach and obvious reason that we will understand soon. I don't think he will tell anyone yet. Refer to post #50.

I can't imagine that this new change would lock the vins for the old v4 users who paid the higher price tag.

Being able to resale the Procede vs a flash was part of the selling scheme.

IM pretty sure Shiv wouldn't make the mistake to make us older Procede owners unable to sell our Procedes.

What I wonder about is going forward, will the v4 owners still get free updates to new features or not??
