Standard sport suspension and 19 inch wheels

Hi guys
I need your expertise. I have a 320d msport. I am looking to fit 19 inch alloys to the car. What I wanted to know is will I get away with leaving the car on standard sport suspension? I want to avoid the car looking like a 4x4 or a big gap in the arches. Any help or advice would be appreciated? Or even pics of your cars if you gave done the same?

Thanks
Gsha

Standard soprt suspension with 19" wheels. I had intended on lowering it before I got the wheels on then decided it'll do as is, it sits pretty well I thhink.

EDIT: you never said which E9x, so if it's not an E90 then I apologise

after a small bit of research it would appear you are right, never the less... plenty of people put 19" wheels on without issue

No reason why you can't upgrade to 19" alloys, they were an option on the E92,and many including myself, ticked that box.

It won't do anything to lessen the gap between top of tyre and bottom of the arch however, depending on the offsets of the wheels you get,you could fit spacers to the wheels which will push the wheels further out from the suspension.
This will lessen that gappy look, but only from an optical illusion perspective.

ive got 19in csl's on my 320d m sport saloon at minute, staggered 9.5j rear 8.5j front, not lowered and it sits just right IMO. no need for lowering. i can carry passengers in back without rubbing and the ride isnt too bad either. i previously had the original 193M wheels on it which are 18s.. ive got 245/35/19 rears and 235/35/19 fronts

That seems an odd size for the back tyres. Factory size is 255 30 19, but most people opt for 265 30 19 when they switch to non-runflat tyres.

i know, but thats what was fitted when i bought them so until they wear out...i'll leave them on. good thing is they have a slight stretch on the rears so i dont have to worry about tyres catching.

Bmwm power- what offsets are your alloys? Do you think they would catch with 265 at the rears

the 245 is not the problem the 35 profile is.

19s are larger rim diameter, but same overall tyre diameter due to slimmer sidewall.

So the 19 rim will be 1/2in closer to the arch than an 18, so it will look lower anyway even on same suspension.

cant remember the offset mate exactly but i will be taking them off when the snow clears to clean them up as my car is for sale and will be returning it to the 193m wheels

i think they may catch at the rear with 265 thats why the person i bought them off used the 245 ..i think 255 would be ok though.

why is the 35 profile a problem...ive had these wheels on my car for nearly 2 months..can carry 2 passengers in the back no issues no rubbing
what would be the problem.. as far as size goes both tyres are the same size on the same axle so no rotation difference?

Rear should be a 30 profile at 255 really, but maybe they went up to a 35 profile to compensate for the narrow 245, its a bit of an over compensation, but just means your speedo will read lower.

I've got 19" csl reps on my pre lci e90, not sure of the off set but I know there 8 front and 9 rear, 235 35 19 and 265 30 19, the ride hight is perfect for me on msport suspension but I am considering spacers to get a bit flusher with the wheel arches.

Not the best pic but I'm also running 19 csl reps. Not sure of the offset and they are the same width all round. Standard m sport suspension with 20mm spacers on the rear.

could be tempted to sell wheels if the offer was right as im in 2 minds weather to buy an E60 m sport or E91 m sport touring next as i like the look of the tourings

you have a pm anyways

the exhaust is staying on the car as its too much hassle to return back to stock and its a more attractive look with the 335d exhaust IMO so think it will help the car sell.
