New toy

Simply couldn't resist it and, at £34k off list, it was an offer I couldn't refuse:
F12 640i, Registered Sep '11, 1300 miles, 5 year service inclusive, showroom condition plus the following:
3AG Reversing Assist camera
323 Soft-close doors
4AS Dark Grey Poplar wood interior trim
4KS Contrast stitching
4ND Instrument panel with leather finish
488 Lumbar support. driver and front pass.
5AC High-beam Assistant
5DL Surround-view
5DP Park Assist
5GB BMW Tracking
524 Adaptive Headlights
6NF Telephone USB audio interface
601 TV function
610 Head-up Display
614 Internet
654 DAB digital radio
677 Loudspeaker system - BMW Professional
8TH Speed limit display
ZGH Dynamic package
2H9 20" V-spoke style 356 alloy wheels
3MB Exterior trim. matt aluminium
456 Comfort seats. front

Can't begin to understand why anyone would pay over £900 for a car TV and I don't think I'll ever be brave enough to try the Park Assist, but it's one hell of a lot of car for the money and, after 1k+ miles, I thoroughly delighted.

The handling is superb - like a compliant version of my old E92 330d M Sport, but with none of the crashing. The steering, being electric, hasn't got quite the same degree of feedback, but it's a vast improvement on my 535d.

And as for the sublime 6 cyl petrol - what an engine...

You can see the 61 plate. So Sep 2011 would be right.

Thanks Ian,
It's a year old, so first registered Sep '11. However, with just 1300 miles on the clock and being in pristine condition, the only difference between this and a Sep 12 car is 1 year off the warranty and service pack - not too bad for a reduction of £34k.
With all its toys the current list is £79; I got it for the equivalent of £45k - my Sep '10 F10 + £15k.

Oh I just saw, £45k. That's some serious depreciation.

Do you think it is possible to get a similar deal on a slightly-used 640 Gran Coupe?

Are those pictures of your actual car - they look like library shots. Not my choice of colour combo but looks very nice nether-the-less, and at the price, beggars can't be choosers. Amazing spec too - love gadgets.

So what engine is in this 4.0l straight-six?? Are there no v8's anymore??

note - just checked, the 4.0i is 3.0l '6' and the 5.0i is a 4.4l '8'.

I have to say they are a nice looking car, not overly keen on the combo here thouGh.

But a massive congrats anyhow as its a great deal.

Can't understand why it has only done 1300 miles in 12 months.

Actual photos taken last Sunday.
Each to their own as far as colour's concerned, but as it happens, this is exactly what I would have gone for if configuring a new car.

Correct - neither has the girlfriend. She knew I was travelling south to look at it, but, over the phone, I convinced her I'd changed my mind and decided to keep my F10. Asked her to help me get something out from the boot when I got back home - she was completely speechless when she saw it - that alone was worth £45k .

Previous owner died and, judging by the extras, such as TV and Park Assist, as opposed to Adaptive Drive, I'm guessing he might have been getting on a bit - rather like me .

Must admit I got a similar reaction when I picked up my A7 on Friday. It really is a big leap from what I had before.

This was my guess basing it on the colour scheme (which I actually think suits the car).

I remember the beige all over 335d that was for sale a while ago that had only covered about 2000 miles in 4 years and it was the same story. One of my elderly neighbours has a similarly coloured e90 that NEVER moves.

Nice shots . Wasn't having a pop at the colour, it looks great, I'd have probably gone all boring with black or gun-metal . Enjoy it.

Well, I wouldn't exactly call it "beige"; BMW refer to it as 'Orion Silver', which is actually more of a pale bronzy/gold metallic.
However, if you reckon it suits the 'older generation', then you have me banged-to-rights and guilty as charged .
