'07 335i iDrive + iPhone/iPod interface options?
I have yet to find the definite answers that I've been looking for via searching so here it goes:
I have an 07 335i with iDrive. The USB port AFAIK was not an option on my car when it was being sold new. All I want is to be able to control my iPhone/iPod via the iDrive interface. Is that at all possible without upgrading to the CIC over the CCC? |

It looks like the module tricks the iDrive system into reading the iPod as an MP3 CD - is that accurate? |

And you are correct, the unit emulates a CD changer on the MOST bus with an MP3 CD loaded up. All in all, it's pretty ideal. From what I hear, they work quite well, and the integration is certainly unbeatable short of a 6FL and 644 retrofit. But even with those, you still don't get A2DP streaming. So it's slightly better in that way. |

Also what are prices like to do a 6FL + 644 retrofit? I'm vaguely familiar with what the 6FL retrofit is but now the 644. I would really prefer to go OEM but I can't find where I can order the retrofit parts and what exactly is required. I can only find fragments of information and I don't know enough about it to piece those fragments together to feel confident in knowing what I need to purchase. FYI
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=85149
The factory retrofit is expensive and convoluted. (See above) also I don't think the audio is as good. Yes a2dp is streaming bluetooth music. If you just want Ipod I think BMW does it for around a grand at the local dealerships. I think they will tell you usb isn't possible on some of the older models even though it is . What you want is in the threads try doing a search for USB and 6fl. http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...&highlight=6fl Last edited by ctuna; 12-21-2012 at 02:31 AM.. |

If we're talking $1,000 + then I might as well just do the CCC retrofit and make sure I get the usb+aux hub. I plan on having the car for awhile so it might be a worthwhile upgrade. |

dension 500s looks like a cheaper option
dension 500s looks like a cheaper option
and it does more. they sell for around 550 on ebay of course you have to enable the cdc and maybe kmp3. Can't say if the 6fl route would work but its expensive and convoluted. I would imagine a CCC retrofit and the associated hardware would be north or 2k. http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...&highlight=ccc Last edited by ctuna; 12-21-2012 at 02:42 AM.. |

All you need is the following: 1. Software update to your CCC (to recognise the following) 2. MULF2 unit (search, they are all over ebay, around $150) 3. USB HSD cable. 4. AUX cable.. Since you already have Bluetooth, you will have the BT antenna going into the ULF, and will plug into the MULF. Wire them up, and code your CCC, and you will have 6FL and 644.. Should be well under half of a grand... Edit: BT streaming is part of Combox which is only compatible with the CIC and upwards..
