(Excuse me lady you have seen me with my blinker on for the last 4 min my lane is ending so let me merge?).

Then this afternoon I was pulling into a shopping center and 3 lanes of stop and go traffic was moving slowly and no one was letting me turn. STOP AND GO traffic. Only three people stopped a lci 335i and a E65 7 series and a older older 3 series. All three of them stopped at the same time and let me turn. BMW respect? haha.

I am a courteous driver on the road. I let people merge and give people the right of way. I don't understand why people don't do the same to me.
Haha, Make moves or get burned other then that , Watch out for them Jersey Drivers!! =P

When I see another bmw/mb/lexus/audi driven by a new 17 year old licensed driver, I am thinking of how to avoid this road bomb waiting to happen. Please realize... no one cares what you drive, except other poserish 17 year olds who had mommy and daddy buy them a bimmer.

I am 28, work hard, have my own business, self employed and just paid for my first bimmer in cash. I bought it for myself, not to try to impress anyone on the road. I dont care what anyone thinks of the car, or of me buying the car. I did not buy it to make anyone jelous, nor do I think I make anyone jelous.

The moral of the story, it is not the car, its the driver and the driver's attitude. Unless you just paid for your Lambo/Ferrari/Bentley in cash, you are a nobody. Anyone with a decent credit score can get a car payment. Anyone can get a lease. You want to impress someone? Dress well in a clean pressed suit, pull up to a business meeting in your clean car with no stickers on it, close a business deal, and be happy to know you have enough saved in cash to go buy any car at any dealer in cash. Be happy knowing you control how much money you earn. Be happy knowing you have a family who cares about you, and that you will pass on your learnings to your kids.

People will remember you for who you are and what you accomplished, not what car you drive.
I am 19, I did buy my 06 e90 330 with my own cash (20k) from working 3 jobs over 2 summers in a row and getting 10k from my wrangler from insurance.. but the cars invisible now, Dying to hunt for another one!!!

especially in our neck of the woods, where every other car is a bmw/mb/lexus/cadillac/audi... you need to be driving something really nice, such as a Maseratti Gran Sport for me to give anyone a second look.

You are in NJ, not in Alabama... every other car on the road here is a luxury/sport car.

I do apologize, I just picked up my bimmer, I dont have the holy attitude of everyone is jelous of my ride yet.
I didn't say they pull me over for having a BMW, but they are dicks about it when they get to the car
I've been pulled over a lot for tints and other minor infractions, but I have received a lot of "How the hell are you driving that car?" or the typical "who's car is this?" from them, because I am somewhat younger at 20.

I'm sure anyone in your situation would have taken the car as well. Congrats!

So there ya go.... think they might be dicks to you because your car has tints on it? and not because you are driving a bmw. =)

Btw, they are asking you those questions to get you to admit to more things. Typically, a young kid gets a bmw either because their mommy and daddy bought them a bimmer, or drugs. Your best strategy, if you dont want the attention, enjoy the car for what it is, drop the tints and stop trying to attract LEO attention. =)

As far as financing a car... congrats that you listened up in economics class and can recite stuff. Lets say you finance for 5%, find me a guaranteed investment that will average 5% annually in todays environment? None.

The whole point is not about if it is smarter to finance or pay cash, but about the fact is that 90% of the owners cant afford to pay for the car in cash.

Btw, my self employment company is wealth management, so my clients include a wide variety of folks, including car dealers (both sales, finance guys, and dealership owners). The vast majority of people, when buying a car, are only asking can they afford the car payment... not can they afford to buy the car.

Lastly, if you really want to talk wealth, as funny as this may sound, the vast majority of truly affluent/wealthy people drive domestic cars, such as Cadillacs, Buick's, and Toyota's. The fairly well off folks typically buy Saab's, Volvo's, and most of all Subarus.

Highly suggest you read "The millionaire next door"

Btw, if you are under 25, dont bother, keep on doing what you are doing, you will learn on your own.

I do apologize if I sound preachy, but quite honestly, I just bought my bmw a few days ago, but I am just astonished at the amount of stupidity and ignorance when it comes to the real world/life, and the amount of "Look at me, I drive a BMW" attitudes. =)

Btw, I bought my car 2 year old, used for half the sticker price. Why not let some other person take the depreciation on it.

Honestly I didn't buy my 335i cuz it's a BMW. I bought it cuz of the performance and luxury. I couldn't give 2 shits of what people think I was driving. As long as they see my brake lights lol.
