What did your dealer do for you between order & delivery?

eversince i placed my order, the only feedback i got from my dealer was him emailing me my production number. when i emailed him a couple weeks later to find out what was going on (since the owner's circle shows pretty much nothing), he just said they see what i see and can't get any more detailed information than that. that is all i got from him during the whole period of waiting.

i can't bitch since my car has gone from order to completion in only 20 days (ordered 11/4, will complete 11/24) but still, did your dealer call you from time to time to let you know what's going on or did you have to call to find out? were they helpful? what else did they do for you during that period?

Other than BMW NA, your ordering dealer has the most specific info. If your client advisor tells you differently he/she is full of it.

Since I ordered I've had to call my dealer for the production order and week and the shipping details. Well, i was a bit eager on the production info, so I called him a couple of days after order...he didn't have the info on hand so he called me back the next day to give me the info. When I called him about what boat I was on, I wasn't on a boat yet. But he called me the next day telling me that I actually got on the boat the night I called. He has been very helpful when I've needed the information.

Your dealer can track where the car is with pretty close accuracy.

Here are a few screen shots to show you the info the dealer has available to them regarding where your car is in various stages of the process.

It's a great system if your dealer takes the time to learn it... if not, it's all too easy for someone to just give the typical "that's all the info I've got" response.

yeah, that's all he told me. do you think he really doesn't know or is just too lazy to look it up?

is that software commercially available?

It's an internal BMWNA/dealer interface-- it's not available to the public.

That's exactally it! My first BMW order was placed through the same salesman and he gave me the I don't knows....Then when my new one came he said that he knows the system soooo much better and was able to narrow it down to the day
