PTF E40 Map - Drag Racing Results

I've been having smoke problems with my car, but it seems to have subsided. Now my LPFP doesn't like E60 so Dzenno tuned me down to E40. Car seemed to be running well so I headed to the track last Friday.

The DA was about 38

I freaking suck balls at launching. Mind you this is with drag radials and a LSD...

I think I need to invest in a line lock kit because my burnout skills are as good as my launching skills.

that makes no sense. you should be in the 11s with your mods and DR`s.

What wheels are you using and what tires?

He explained why he isn't in the 11s. If you look at the 60ft you'll see where he is losing the time. The car looks healthy though. Still getting good traps in the 1/8th. Fix that launch and you'll be set. It can help to let the car lurch forward in the waterbox to get momentum and then stop the front wheels and you can get a better burnout. Just takes practice

@nafoo - what tires are you running? What tire pressure are you using on that setup (you may be running too high)?

Since you're a 6MT, you may want to go to a nice, "isolated" parking lot and practice your smokeys. You should be able to get a decent burnout without a linelock kit.

Are you having a lot of wheel spin or bogging down off the line? You don't need a line lock kit just yet.

just saw your MT.. those times make sense based on the 60fts

practice those launches and you will be at least low 12s

Your 1/4 mile mph looks strong, but like you said, your 60' times are terrible and that is what is killing your elapsed time. Keep practicing and you'll get the hang of it.

Are you still spinning with DR because of lack of heat in the tire? Or are you bogging at the line?

You can cut a better 60 foot on street tires, so maybe DR isn't for you at this stage.

Line lock kits are nice, but really you just need to drop the clutch with some high rev's in the water box and as soon as the tires slip apply some brakes to keep you there. If your back end starts getting swirly and trying to turn you put the clutch in and stay on the brakes (while counter steering).

Some tracks tend to keep you straighter then others while doing a burn out, most people fear doing a burn out and needing to counter steer to keep the car straight.

I think it should be a priority to get sub 2.0 on street tires before going to drag radials, otherwise you likely wont gain much. just my opinion. im trying to do better than 1.80 consitently before i go DRs

I'm just really bad at burning out. Definitely need to practice.

Thanks for the tips. I know I have a lot of practicing to do. Mainly, making use of my DRs because my "burnout" is really just a second or two long...lol

If you are getting lots of wheel spin that means you are giving too much gas too quickly. A good drill for you to do would be to try bogging down at the line. Once you can do that, gradually start giving more gas until you can find that sweet spot. An old school racer taught that to me a while back. It will take a while but practice makes perfect and it works. Also try to leave the tree on the last set of yellow lights instead of on the green. This will help with your RT.

That is legendary advice, and exactly what i did to achieve solid 1.7x to low 1.8x 60s on street tires and consistent .0xx reaction times i found the sweet spot is just a few half chirps as i go all in

This should be a sticky lol

Thanks for the tip. I can practice this on the street without drawing unfavorable attention

Tips:
At the track disconnect the rear sway bar
put max pressure on front tires
if your coilovers are externally adjustable set the rears to the softest setting.

I would hope to get 1.5x on radials seeing how i get mid to high 1.7s on street tires on a good launch

Trap is high. Launch under a 2.0 and i have a good feeling that would be a LOW 12 second run.
