MT fluid for different seasons

Anyone change MT fluid for cold vs hot weather? If so, what types? My 2010 328i is harder to shift now with weather cooling off.

No.

This is one of the silliest things I've ever heard.

Back in the last century, BMW recommended using ATF in their manual gearboxes for winter use. For summer, it was back to the standard weight. But with the current fluids, that practice has been dropped i.e. no longer recommended by the OEM.

And that was prior to my '97 E36 Z3 which had no such recommendation.

I did find that changing to Redline MTL in my '99 E46 improved shifting under all conditions and was especially noticeable in colder temps. But unless you are due for a MT change, I'd simply treat the tranny gently until thoroughly warmed up.

Thanks for the input. Maybe I will try out Redline when I'm due for a change. Any known downsides to this fluid? More frequent changes, etc?
