i recently sold my e90 330i, and i have two Thule Peloton 517 fork mount bike carriers that i used with the OEM BMW tower and cross bars. they are designed to work with Thule aero bars, and so i added a set of steel washers so that they better fit the channel in the BMW cross bar.

the setup is pretty solid, as i've used it on I5 on trips to so cal w/ heavy mountain bikes. in addition to selling my car, i've moved to bikes w/ 20mm thru axles, so it's more difficult to use a fork mount rack.
