I don't know how it would feel with that being the only mod since I already had a tune and Perf exhaust. The intake is less restrictive than the stock box so the car gets better air flow. As far as gains go, box alone would be probably marginal altough the increased air flow is a plus. If you are not going to do any tunes then I suggest you skip on this mod and just open up your stock air box and cut out the charcoal filter instead.

OE tune complete
Went with the OE tune by MM in Gilbertsville, PA with addition of K&N filter system and must say it is exactly what I wanted. After a great 100k of standard power, it is like a brand new car with an undeniable power increase. It makes my daily 100 mile back road commute immensely more enjoyable; where I have been finding that second, third and fourth gear are other car quick. Gas mileage has remained the same and in general the car is simply...optimized.

What about transmission tuning, can we add rev matched downshifts to the ZF trans like the 335i has?
I was thinking about this, they made the 330i for a few years in Europe, if those transmissions have rev matching I wonder if I could flash my car with the euro software with WinKFP. Not sure if this is in the DME or the transmission module or combination of both. |

it appears that they are quoting flywheel hp, not wheel hp. So the same as a stock 330i, which isn't too far fetched, but I'd still want to see a dyno chart.

Yes I do realize it's at the crank but thats still a 25hp gain on just a tune and no manifold. I doubt those numbers.

im rigth here in so cal less than 10 minutes from oetuning... im still leaning towards to Active tune just because i know more about the company and they ahve a proven track record though..
if I decide to swing by ill let you guys know what oetuning says. It seems sketchy without some dyno charts... they are a "dyno tuning" facility apparently but they have zero charts posted. seems weird. |
