Plant code "F"?
I ordered a 335i sedan at the dealer on 1/19/08. My dealer wasn't able to submit it in the system that day, but gave me a chassis # on 1/21.
I've checked in the owners circle and tonight on the phone system, and it says it is in the 'body shop' scheduled to be done on 1/25. I searched the forum and found how to decode the VIN (which was listed on the owners circle site). The two things that I didn't get an answer to by searching are 1) Plant code appears to be "F"? 2) The restraint digit is a '5'. Does anyone know what those two things mean? thanks! |

My VIN is
WBAVB73538FV75xxx Thanks for the link, I missed that in my search. According to that the plant code F = Munich. When I look at the online inventory of the dealers in my state however, I can only find V's.. I have not seen any F's. The car production is progressing very quickly... its already listed as "in transit". It was only completed 2 days ago and listed as 'awaiting transportation to port of exit" yesterday. 1/24 - "Body Shop" -- complete Jan 25th 1/25 - "Paint Shop" -- complete Jan 25th 1/26 - "Released to carrier -- awaiting transportation to port of exit" 1/27 - "Vehicle is in transit, please contact your center for additional info" |

That sounds good. My car was built on the 25th so I should get it the end of Feb which is like 4 weeks 6 total since ordering. You just hear some horror stories of ppl waiting 3 months and waiting a month for a boat. Whats up with that

Well, doh. I called again today and it is back to
1/28 - "Released to a carrier and is awaiting transportation to a port of exit" It definitely said it was 'in transit' yesterday. I guess it didn't really happen. On another note, I just realized the car was produced on a Friday. Hopefully the myth about friday/monday cars isn't true |

Hey I just checked (1/29) and it now says "Vehicle is being transported to port of exit". I wonder if we're on the same train! is your VIN Plant code "F" as well? |

I checked mine yest too and says the same thing. How long is the run from Munich plant to the port by train? It seems all our cars were done the same time. Lets hope with boats going out in the next 4 days there wont be alot of cars ahead of us waiting and we get on a boat at the end of the week.

my 335i is in the Bremerhaven dock since 01/28. I checked the WW Logistic site and there are a couple of boats leaving on 01/31 and 2/01 headed to Port HUENEME, CA. (although not sure if these cargo ships are carrying vehicles)

Cool, we're all on the Munich -> Bremerhaven train!
This is the search I just did: http://www.dbh.de/index.php?id=151&L...080225&menu=VC According to that, assuming NYK lines is all that moves our cars, there is only one more boat in February going to the west coast! (SIRIUS LEADER) I sure hope I make that one... |
