Removing Tint

I have a 2008 E92 that is tinted, and I want to have the tint removed. Any shops in CT that anyone can recommend?

My issue is everywhere I have called is over $100...I paid $175 to have it done... Any help would be appreciated.

Take a heat gun, peel a corner and keep peeling and then just clean the residual adhesive from the glass ... why would you even pay a shop to do something you can do yourself.

if you have a steamer you dont need to clean the glass since the glue comes up with the tint.

be careful on the back window.

If you do the above steps, you're making more work for your self. I know, I've done when I've been ticketed for having tints. I went to Walmart and bought a $7 bottle of Tint remover, sprayed it on the tint and that shit melted away..along with the adhesive.

Melted away the tint? As in a good or bad way? Any problems with rear windshield with defroster?

Steamer w/ goo gone and a plastic scrapper for $3 is the way to go. Definitely would never pay $100 to get a shop to remove the tint! Good luck!

Razor blade does wonders for removing the glue residue... save yourself majority of the labor of melting and scrubbing. And then of course you should wipe them clean with goo gone or equiv chemical.

Dont use a razor or scraper on the back as you'll destroy your defroster.

Any issues with the rear windshield or hints? I am hoping to find time this weekend to do it.

1. Tint Remover spray (walmart)
Or
Hair shampoo (yes hair shampoo, ive used it to remove and apply tint. Sauve brand...lol) mixed with water in the spray bottle.
2. box cutter or sharp long blade
3. plaster scrapper (for rear window, dont use blade on defogger)

Directions:
using blade try to insert it between tint and glass and pull the tint from any corner (preferably top corner).
start spryaying tint removal between glass and tint and slowly start pulling. dont pull it immediately..try to pull it very slowly. with slow motion there will be minimum residue left.
keep sraying tint removal and it will keep making the tint pulling easier.
once complete tint is removed, look for gum residue on the glass, spray tint removal and scrap it with flat blade.

** becareful around the dot matrix
** for rear screen (with window defogger) residue removal, use rubber scrapper(or plasitc scrapper) which you use to apply tint.

its very easy, even if you leave a lot of gum residue, you can clean it easily.

Which tint removal spray did you end up using? I am thinking of removing my tints also cause of some scratches and bubbles and getting it redone.
