You know you're tired of waiting when...

I have been waiting for my car since the end of May, not a long time, but too long for someone as impatient as I am (and now that I turned my old leased vehicle in, the lack of a car is somewhat inconvenient, but I survive).

I was wondering what people do when they are waiting for their new BMW.. I know you can track through the website, use various ship tracking sites to follow it over the oceans, and hassle your CA on a daily basis (like I do) to see where it is. Bottom line though, it will be some time between order and delivery and you have to occupy your anxious brain somehow...

here are a few things I have been doing:
  • Reading forum posts and looking at pictures of lucky BMW owners cars
  • take a PhD course in car detailing (available on these very boards)
  • purchase care care products
  • (If I have to wait much longer) start purchasing mods
  • and most desperately.... watching the videos on the learning center section of the BMW owner's circle website. I'm desperate..

oh yeah, throw some time working and paying attention to my wife and kids, but that certainly ranks below all the time spent on the above list..

My car is in a black hole right now. It's off the boat (yeah!!) but still "en route to VPC" so who knows how long it will be.

I think I am going to practice detailing on my white 97 Camaro SS once my Zaino comes in.. OK OK I haven't been taking care of the chevy that well lately, last time it got attention was a turtle wax Ice application almost a year ago..

The agony of waiting...

What are YOU doing with your time while waiting?

I'm in the same boat as you. Almost all my mods managed to get here before the car. However, no one at the dealer can give me a definitive answer of when I'll get it, probably because they are either on vacation or taking the day off.

I saw my CA yesterday when I dropped off my m45, and he assured me that it would gather no dust nor moss at the center and that once it was there, I would get a call and be in it asap.. Ryan at Flemington has been great.. It's helpful when your CA is a BMW nut and has had to go through the same torture for his own cars a few times...

ryan, got any e90/92 M3 "loaner" cars I could use for a few days?

This will be the last time I purchase at Difeo. They never called to give an update, EVER. I always had to ask.

neither did mine, except this morning to tell me the car had arrived

What are YOU doing with your time while waiting?
- RTFM twice
- took care of the insurance
- read that crazy thread about the guy who bought the car on e-bay but the dealer did not want to honor the deal

however, none of this actually helped alleviate the pain of waiting

Twice now I've ordered mods the week after ordering the car. Once again, I feel a little silly as I stare into the den at a stack of BBS wheels and a PSS10 box for the 5th consecutive week. I've taken the time to learn as much as is available about the N54 and various other E9x tidbits. Can't wait to start wrenching and lay down a couple coats of wax

I'd wait on wheels till you actually receive the car.

Nonsense. Order the mods now, so you can put all the waiting behind you. The day after I ordered my car, I went on the internet and searched for BMW forums and found this place. Made me want to mod even more, even though there was nothing out there except maybe rims. Eventually other things became available and when the car was picked up, I had what I needed to get to work immediately. The body change came a few months later though...

Cosmetic mods are fine.. hell I even have an exhaust on order but wheels are tougher to visualize without having an actual car in front of you. Trust me.

yeah tirerack.com allows you a side view of the car with the wheels, but I need to see real pics of the wheels on a real AW car..

the car just got into the prep center this AM...

it's almost here!

sick thing is I am sitting likely less than 30 miles from the vehicle since saturday. I want to storm the VPC!
