iPhone 6 + no iDrive

Hey everyone,

Forgive me for asking what I'm sure is an easy answer for all of you. I searched for a while and couldn't quite figure it out.

I've got a 2008 WITHOUT iDrive, and recently purchased an iPhone 6. Is it possible to connect it to my car anyway and control through the stereo/steering wheel controls? If so, do I just buy the lightning Y-cable? Thanks for any help.
