1650 for a transmission flash is rape.

STOP!!!!!! all of you… there is nothing to be upgraded in our tranny!!! unless Dinan or BMW or Alpina do something about it… Just buy another car! I love my D even the tranny. Its far better than most car on the road. If you want better, buy a younger car like the 328D. Nice tranny but slow car. lol

Yeah... that's not really the purpose of forums. The purpose of forums is more for folks who like to discuss options to do so.

This is an option in which I'd be interested. But if you'd rather I have another car rather than pollute your forum with investigation into it, I will send you my delivery address.

A trans tune is an option and not something that is an outrageous idea, so discussing the possibility here isn't polluting the forum. We don't need Dinan or BMW to make it happen, just a good (and willing) tuner. I am in touch with one about this, just a matter of him making the time for it... And it definitely won't cost $1650. While the trans may not be horrible, the programming certainly needs improvement....and it is very possible.

My 2004 chevy 4 speed shifts better than this thing. AND for just $350 I can connect into the computer and change every single shift parameter that I want in order to make it fit my every desire. If you think your D shifts fine, thats great, but most people on here and magazine reviews dont seem to agree

Funny, I was just investigating how to use WinKFP in order to try flashing the EGS with the E53 X5 4.4i software. Thanks for bumping this. I wasn't aware of the thread.
Has anyone tried using the E53 EGS software? The fact that it is an ...x transmission shouln't make a difference since the x part is accomplished with a separate distribution trans, right?
I assume marius76 used ISTA/P for flashing the EGS to the latest integration level. Is there a corresponding WinKFP data set out?

I'm interested in this too. The shifting in D isn't crisp enough for my tastes. My datalogging says the shifts take an awful long time. These cars could be quicker with an improved shift. More horsepower is only part of the equation.

Wishing you success.

Is it at lower rpm's/peak torque and full fueling, or some other situation? Would also be interested in hearing your maintenance schedule on the transmission (if you've changed fluids/filters and what brand fluids...) and how many miles you're at.

Shift from 3rd-4th doesn't engage completely until I lift out of the throttle.. I have 23,000 miles on my car with original fluid.. Been running dpf delete tune and my downpipe for about 8-9000 miles now

I'm getting into ISTA/P as we speak. Even though WinKFP would be a much easier option for me, it doesn't seem like it provides the update for our tranny. If anyone has done the update, would you mind executing the following job in INPA or EDIABAS and posting it here?
apiJob("GS19D","aif_aktuell_lesen","","")

Satz : 0
OBJECT = gs19d
SAETZE = 1
JOBNAME = aif_aktuell_lesen
VARIANTE = GS19D
JOBSTATUS =
UBATTCURRENT = -1
UBATTHISTORY = -1
IGNITIONCURRENT = -1
IGNITIONHISTORY = -1
Satz : 1
JOB_STATUS = OKAY
BMW_VEHICLE_IDENTIFICATION_NR = XXXXXX (edited)
BMW_PROGRAMMING_DATE = 20100712
BMW_ASSEMBLY_NR = 000007606273
BMW_CALIBRATION_DATASET_NR = 000007606274
BMW_EXHAUST_REGULATION_OR_TYPE_APPROVAL_NR = 000000000000
WERKSCODE_HAENDLERNUMMER = 011111
TESTER_SERIENNUMMER = 12345
KM_STAND_PROGRAMMIERUNG = 0.000000E+000
PROGRAMMSTAND = 0479S90T641Z
_TEL_ANTWORT = 71 Bytes

The interesting part is the BMW_ASSEMBLY_NR and the BMW_CALIBRATION_DATASET_NR. Mine are stock. Once we have the numbers for the updated EGS I can verify if there is a dataset for WinKFP. Is there any interest in a detailed description on how to perform this update with either tool?

Anyway, I'd offer to do the reflash for those that are interested at our 335d meet at kbturbo.

Maybe we are just forming a mutual admiration society here, but I'd say your generosity is enviable. Please and thank you.
Is there a date yet for the meet?
