LOVE the new Stoptec cross-drilled rotors from EAS! I was on the fence for a long time for the ECS Tuning GEOMET rotors and the delays there tipped me over the fence to spring for the MORE expensive Stoptec setup. I firmly believe I made the right decision, Stoptec quality is tried and true and I am extremely happy. 2 weeks into bed-in I am immediately surprised at the increase in performance (bear in mind my car is 2 years old with only 8K miles on it so my oem rotors and pads are barely used and in great nick). The stainless lines, the new stoptec street/race pads, super blue race brake fluid and the cross-drilled rotors not only look amazing but the feel is immediate. The pedal is firm, no fading, no squeaks, very minimal dust and a solid secure feel.

Also, compared to the ECS rotors, these are also powder-coated BLACK on the hats and the vents making for stark contrast between the rotor surface and the wheel well... simply gorgeous. Much improved over an already potent oem system. Thanks to Kevin @ EAS for hooking me up!

I also repainted my calipers using G2 ceramic paint color matched to BMW OEM Estoril Blue. It looks AMAZING in the sun.

What really makes the most difference in stopping power? The pads and brake lines?

^^ all I can say is that these have great cold bite, low dust, and zero fade. There are tons of positive reviews out there on this kit - AND the are low low dust and on top of all that - they polish the rotor to a mirror finish. They may not be "track" pads, but certainly better performance for aggressive street use and moderate autocross.

Looks great. I actually just installed this exact setup (almost) on my E46... I went with the Axxis MetalMaster pads as I wanted OEM-like cold weather... I didn't want to have to worry about pad warm-up... But either way, I love the rotors, the lines look awesome too, very happy with the purchase. For the E46, I was about $650 shipped, purchased from TMS.

Question regarding this though... Did you install? And if so, did you bleed yourself or cycle the ABS unit when bleeding? I still have a really soft pedal and I've bled the 4 corners extensively... Starting to wonder if air in the ABS unit might be my problem? I can't get the firm pedal that one should have with SS lines...

^^ thanks. I bled myself using a pneumatic bleeder, and cycled through oem 'clear' fluid until I saw super 'blue' fluid then tightened down. Your pedal should not be soft, could be air, water or God forbid a leak. It's good that you bleed all 4 corners extensively... but... if you have water in the line(s) that's compressible; you could also have water/air somewhere else as well. That is why I always replace the color fluid so I can be sure on all 4 corners. Good luck man.

Yeah man, I've checked a bunch. No leaks, I know that for sure. It has to be air in the lines, but I've bled a hundred times over, and nothing but solid, good streams of blue fluid. I too changed out to the ATE Super Blue, so I had a color change to show when I had purged the old fluid.

As for water in the lines, I doubt that. And just FYI, water is incompressible.

Ah well, I'll figure it out.

I've recieved several PM's on this so I figured I'd share some tips on how to paint your brakes the "correct" way. PS - I also watched several utube vids as well prior to lifting a brush... so.... edumacate urself first.

ok... there are 2 methods: Hand Paint or Spray

What I did was put the car on jacks inside a closed garage. Then I cleaned the calipers with the supplied g2 cleaner and a wire brush - then detailed them with MORE isopropyl alcohol and q-tips.

Then, with a lot of blue painters tape, newspaper and an x-acto knife, I covered the disc, lines, front and back, including sensors, and rubber caps.

For GLOSSY use a brush and go slowly - a little goes a long way. WAIT for the first light coat to tack-DRY (10-15 min based on humidity) TIP: PAINT ON A DRY DAY.

If you don't have the patience for hand brushing, you CAN spray this paint using the "Preval Portable Aerosol Spray Gun" and can be purchased at Home Depot - just get 2-3 aerosol cans! The finish will NOT be glossy for some reason but will be a satin.

I prefer high gloss and the first time I painted my calipers I did gloss black by brush and they cleaned up so nice due to the gloss.

The most recent paint I did was Estoril Blue by spray, and it's not as glossy... if I were to do it again I'd hand paint for sure now knowing what I know. It's totally your call.

As for the ///M logos: here is the link to the guy I bought mine from - he's in the UK. I can tell you that mine have been on for about 4 months and I have zero issues, fading etc. The look great, and IF these fade - he gave me a whole bunch to replace so.... I'm good there.

Bottom line: just make sure you do this CLASSY. Make them look like the M5 which was my mission (as seen here) Put the decal on exactly as shown in the pic - and NO - the decal does NOT go on the rears - only the front and use the proportional decal. Too big means ur trying too hard.

Your GOAL: OEM look.

Do NOT put the wheels on or the decal on until at least 12 hours AFTER you declare you are finished. The paint has a "brushable" life of only 3-4 hours so your actual "paint" time is limited. Paint 1st coat, move to next wheel, etc, etc. Cap paint, wait 15-20 minutes. Then paint 2nd coat same pattern until 4-5 coats - or as much as time permits.

I also painted my calipers but Space Grey & used high temp clear to give it the glossy finish. I had the local body shop paint supply store put the paint in the rattle cans
