New Sirius Install Document

I bought a 2006 325i with Satellite prep. I found this forum, researched the part numbers I needed to add Sirius to the car and ordered the parts; Sirius Receiver (p/n 65 12 6 987 545) and required E90 Installation Kit (p/n 65 11 0 406 351).

I got quoted $420 and $21 respectively from the dealer I purchased the car at; Niello in Sacramento. Parts came in and the parts guy asked if I wanted him to schedule an appt. They quoted 1.5 hours to install @ $135/hour. I said ok. I took the car in at 8am and got a call in the afternoon saying they could not complete the install because the parts were not the correct parts and there is an additional part needed, some kind of "Trunk Molding" kit. After alot of confusing talk from the service tech on the phone and in person we figured out that there has been a manufacturing change. There is a new install kit and the additional molding piece. The receiver part number has not changed. The install kit is on a national back order.

Do any of you that work at a dealership have access to the new version of the install instructions? These new instructions show the two new install kitsand associated part numbers. I am half tempted to do the install myself and just pay them to code the car. This is my first BMW and I surely wasn't impressed with the inability of the service tech. to initially explain to me why the parts I ordered were the wrong parts. The car is manufactured August 2006.

Thanks

I had the same problem myself, man. The two new part numbers are (I called 3 BMW dealers and they all gave me the same list price):

Sirius Retrofit Kit
p/n 65 11 0 035 509
list: $50.00

Trim Panel 3 Series Sedan (E90)
51 47 7 070 549
p/n $81.50

I returned the older, wrong kit. I'm going to just install this myself since it's just plugging and screwing stuff in. I'm going to do the alarm at the same time so I only have to have them update the car's programming once.

Thank you for the manual. My dealer says that the trim kit is still on a national back order. Now that I know the part number I'm going shopping. Thanks again

Call down to some of the dealers down here in SoCal... I think Bob Smith BMW said they had it. They can probably ship it. They gave me a price of $81.50, as did 3 other dealers in the valley.

If you guys have no luck with the dealers try https://secure.webmakerx.net/Default....crownauto.com

they are usually pretty good and usually have hard to find stuff...and are often cheaper than the dealers...

Question: I have an E92 is there an easy was (other than removing the trim panels in the trunk) to know if me car is pre-wired for sirius??
I do have i-drive.

Garage List
I had that issue at work last week while I was installing a Sirius setup in an E90. After some confusion with the parts manager and all, we got it figured out. Luckily for me and the customer, we had a trim liner in stock.

After doing the install, I figured out that with the newer production E90's (i think its Feb/06 and newer) the sirius reciever is mounted on the left rear of the trunk as compared to the earlier E90's where it was mounted in the middle of the trunk next to the TCU.

With the newer production E90's make sure you get the trunk liner, and Sirius install kit which includes the brackets to mount the reciever.

I have the install instructions/part numbers but they are in my tool box at work. Dont forget the dealer will still have to retrofit this to the vehicle for it to work.
