Getting BMW Perf Exhaust installed on 335i E90, any gotchas?
So I have read almost all of the posts regarding the BMW PE and I have finally decided to purchase it. I will be having the BMW PE tips cut off and replacing with the 4" Dimisa tips, I think they will look better.
It should be installed in the next few days at a local exhaust shop. From the postings that I have read it appears rather straight forward (cut, align, clamp). Does the butterfly exhaust valve on the OEM set up connect to the drivers side BMW PE muffler? From what I understand there is a stem mounted on it that allows this to happen rather then performing the golf tee method? Any "gotchas" that anyone can share that I should alert the exhaust shop to when installing to make things go as smooth as possible? Thank-you... |

Mine did not come with a valve on the driver's side. There is a little appendage that the vacuum hose can be attached to. The other thing that my exhaust guy noticed was that the stock exhaust was not bolted down near the tips. He added the bolts for me after installing the PE.
I've also decided to cut off the PE tips, plan on getting Magnaflow dual-walled angled tips, 4" diameter. Should fit nicely. When you first start the car on a cold morning, it's going to be loud as heck, too loud for my taste, but once you let the car warm it, the sound is very classy. |

Thanks for the info, I too am going to go with the larger tips 4" Dimisa, which are 8" long, I think I should have plenty of room to mount those on once I cut off the PE tips. If I don't have the nipple on the drivers side pipe, then I guess I can just tie of the vacuum tube?

there will be a metal thingy on the drivers side. I had mine installed about a month ago. Make sure you heat it up by driving around and retighten everything.

hahaha, my bedroom is right above the garage, every morning, i have to open the garage door and start the car in the same time, as soon as the garage door is opened, i have to pull out to the driveway, and then pull out to the street and let it roll slowly.... i don't want to upset my wife and neighbors... hahahaha
