JB4 concerns?

Hey all i have been considering purchasing a tune for my 2011 335i sedan. First i was sure i wanted the bmw ppk1, but after reading most reviews of the ppk1 it isn't enough bang for my buck.

My car has 8k on the odometer, and i would still like to retain the warranty. so can users please chime in: If i clear any and all codes using JB4 will BMW be able to "know" that something has been altered? I don't care about lying.

i'm in socal (riverside) if that matters.

Your biggest mistake was buying a N55 335i. The juice box from BMS for the N55 isn't the greatest IMO. My buddy had it on his 2011 and he sold it cause it didn't make a big enough difference. If you want small gains it's worth it I guess. It's still cheaper than the BMW ppk1 but at least with this you'll never have to uninstall install it. Are you planning on doing for mods or just this tune?

Haha power hungry never end. Eventhough the N55 is not dyno queen but with stage 2 FBO will be more than enough for someone. I regretted to get the 135i N55 but not cause the power but the suspension.

Currently there isn't a whole lot of parts out for the N55 yet. N54 on the other hand has been out for 4 years and there is a plethora of parts and better performance upgrades. I have the PPK Stage 1(came with the car) and its fine for the mean time, though its not super fast either... But best bet we do have either JB4 / Procede / AA Tune / Dinan Stage 2 for the meantime and hopefully more down the road.

With the built in code clearing the JB4 is a great choice. Its simple to remove and install so if you are worried about dealer visits its 15-20 minutes to clear the codes (if any) and remove the tune.

If installed correctly its extremely rare to have any code associated with the JB4. Most codes are due to issues with the car so I wouldn't worry too much and grab the tune and enjoy the car.

Your buddy probably had a JB3 thats why. It only adds 2.75#s over stock

The JB4 is a much larger improvement over stock. If you cant notice a difference with the JB4 then there is something wrong with the car or driver.

Assuming 15% drivetrain loss you'd be whp * 1.176 ~= hp at crank

really? sure, the n55 is no dyno queen, but 2 years into the new motor, we are eons further along than the n54 ever was. you obviously have some bad info (which happens), but the BMS products for the n55 (JB4 in specific) have been phenomenal, and they give a huge advantage over stock... 8-11 OEM psi vs 16-17 psi... couple with FMIC, dp, meth, tuned exhaust, cai.... the n55 is doing just fine -capped at 400 rw, but a good start until a turbo upgrade is available...

please, stay on the n54 forum... apparently we are not worthy of your presence.

Drivetrain loss is never an accurate measure to assume hp as there is no such thing as a universal methodology which can be applied across platforms.

My point was more that * 1.15 wasn't even the right multiplier for that (1/.85 is)
