No this feature is not bypassed, but if you feel like the car does not have the power it should then you can pull the battary for at least 30 minutes so the adaptation will reset, its really there for fuel economy, but you really shouldn't feel a change in the power. Unplugging the battery will not reset the new maps in the ECU from the tune.

Also, the cost of the flash is going to be $449. Tony can either ship the tuning kit to you guys (only takes about 10 min to do) or if you prefer you can send in your ECU unit for flashing.

I will also add that if you are in Chicago or close by, you can always let them do the flash for you. They are also frequently traveling around the country so if you contact Tony you can see if he might be in your area by chance sometime soon to do the flash for you.

Again a the website is: www.LETMotorsports.com

I also updated the 1st post with this info

These guys have been OWNING the Mercedes Benz tuning market for a while now... they know their stuff.

I'll hopefully be back on a dyno in the next week or two.

Thanks

Nope, completely undetectable. If they drive your car they might notice its a bit "peppier" than normal but it doesn't throw any codes or set anything off for them to have any evidence that you did something to the ecu maps.

UdubBadger , thanks for the update. So if I get the tuning kit, the cost is still the same?

Edit: went back to see the first post. So they send you the tuning computer and you send it back, Got it.

yeah, doesn't seem like it is an issue because it would "adapt" the same as it would had you not gotten the tune in the 1st place. If you feel like it lags a bit after a few months then resetting the battery for 30 min isn't the end of the world, but again... I doubt you'd even need to.

yep that is correct sir. And it is REALLY easy to do, you just plug it into that slot next to your hood release lever located next to the driver side door under the dash and the computer does all the work. Tony will obviously help you out if you have any problems doing it but I would assume he'll be including some detailed directions on how to use everything too.

Will the flash be lost if the dealer "updates" the software during service?

you shouldn't have the flash on if you're going to the dealer for an update in software.

but yes it would be lost

Too bad the final version wont be ready till AFTER he returns frpm jersey. It'd be nice to check it out while he was here. Why don't they do a chip instead of flashing the ecu? When I had my old audi giac had a chip that you could either solder into the ecu or docket to the ecu via soldering a dock and placing the chip on the dock. Maybe that'd be easier than sending a tuning tool with maps and such

I'd double check that just to be sure. I'm coming from the 335 tuner forum where codes and reflashes have been discussed to the nth degree for over 2 years. If the ECU in an N52 equipped car is anything like one in an N54, I'm almost sure that a reflash of any kind trips a shadow code that needs to be cleared with a GT1 or BT tool.

I could be wrong but you really need to find out.
