Isn't one difference between the n54 and n55 is that the n54 has 2 turbos as the n55 only has one, i guess that's one way he could check. He possibly have a n55, maybe BMW put one in there to test it, like a guinea pig type deal. to see if there's any errors with it before they start putting it in to production on these models so they don't have a problem like Toyota did and have to recall all the new models

That last post about putting an N55 in as a guinea pig kind of scared me. From the picture that I posted you guys are Positive that I have the N54? Thanks, and sorry for being a PITA!

FWIW - I emailed BMW regarding my car which is being built now (2010 E90). They replied this AM "Your car will have the N54."

they cant. the engine hasnt been cleared by the EPA for sale. they have test mules, but those are tightly controlled.

Thanks again, guys! I'm sorry about the confusion that I caused! I guess the engine does not feel as powerful because the 335i x drive is 400 pounds heavier than the 1er, and does not have the performance exhaust that I had on the 135i? Sound plausible? To anyone who Has to drive today in the East, please be careful!!

No worries. I would have been content with either engine option myself, but I certainly appreciate the ability to take advantage of all the aftermarket options already available for the N54.

Thanks for the information everybody.
