Someone else mentioned this earlier, but you really should check out a Jetta. A good friend of mine got one and it was far nicer than I expected. I was really impressed with the interior and the ride. And she got hers off the lot near fully loaded for like $22k.

Do what you want, seriously, its your money and your girl so you should technically know best. A lot of the other guys here have been burned in the past so they offer advice from that perspective but if you want to do it, go ahead cuz in the end only you have to own up to your decisions.

However I would like to point out several key errors here, your first mistake was telling everyone your age... second was telling everyone it was for your girlfriend not fiance, wifey, sister, etc. you couldve kept it general and it wouldve been easier for you to get just car advice. Your third (potential) is the underestimation of the absolute nightmare that can be inflicted by a woman scorned...

Either way its your biz, ignore everyone and just do as you like, only piece of advice, make sure you have lojack on that sucker and a spare key only you know where it is. Cuz if it comes down to it (hope it never does, god I honestly wish I could be as trusting as you, but Ive been burned too many times to take any female or person for that matter for granted) you will have to be the repo man.

Also I agree about the Jetta, that is THE car most 20 something girls drive. Plus its pretty nice considering what it cost and if its a TDI it makes a great commuter.

How'd you get your dad to let you buy your gf a 25k car? I want a Porsche GT3RS and I'm wondering how to approach my dad.

well i pulled the trigger on a 2011 mini cooper s in eclipse grey with a black roof. It looks great imo... i'm not going to take delivery until the 24th of december though so the dealer is just going to hold it for me. I'm ending up paying a little under $300 a month for it and I own it, so I thought that was a good deal. I also took the 2011 mini cooper s for a test drive, and it is actually quicker than expected and pretty fun.

and I never revealed my age "wuzupfoo" so I don't know where that came from. and I obviously had to reveal her age because I'm not buying for a family of 4 or for a middle aged woman. also, why would I lie about who I'm buying it for? that makes no sense. I don't know what it is with all the jealousy on this forum about age, but it's ridiculous.

and DevJ, I won't even begin to reply to your comment, because I can talk all day about how immature you are PMing me to answer orgo questions, so you can try to make yourself feel better about that whole issue brought up in that other thread

There are two ways to look at it. The OP might look like a penis for writing his biography online or the others might look like they have nothing else to do if they had to point it out in such a manner.

See, there is enough leeway to make everyone happy.

Dude, congrats, nice pickup. Be sure to post pictures when you take delivery, and if you're doing what I think you're doing, that's one hell of a Christmas gift!

300 a month doesn't sound bad at all, mind me asking if you had a hefty down payment?

Thanks bro, and yea I'm going to put one of those big red bows on the car and surprise her on xmas morning. I just need to figure out where to hide the car that night without her seeing it.

And as for the payment... the MSRP on the car was around 29-30K but they gave me 1k off that. So I financed around 28k with the mini select option and was going to put zero down, but the payment was in the mid-high $300 range, so I put 2k down which brought it to around $300. I think it's pretty damn reasonable considering the other options (in that price range) out there for a young woman. I also love the fact that i can double up on payments if i want to pay it off quicker and i'm not binded to a certain period of time that i have to keep the car. Mini/BMW select is definitely the way to go.

Nice car , I would have looked into the jetta too though (as most young girls do drive them). I agree with hula hula you should not have said anything about , your job (working for your dad) , having money to spend , moving out of your house soon , that was all irrelevant to the thread you made. Anyways , I don't think theres any haters on here , I think there was solid advice from guys who had been previously burned. Futhermore , I'm not trying to respark an argument. My two cents are to simply keep your personal buisness to yourself here , no point in sharing details. I like the mini s's post pics when you get it , we all want to see.

well brandwhore is probably the wrong definition for what she thinks. She just doesn't know anything really about cars and is like 90% of americans that think that any bmw is better than any ford and that all Hyundai's and such are way worse than a bmw made car... she's not ungrateful by any means.

i'm actually the brand whore lol.. i would much rather have a cooper s than a genesis just because i know it is built better, carries more prestige, and no matter how expensive either one is, people will think the cooper s is more expensive (i don't know if that makes sense or not)

yea i got her a cooper s, but i never driven one in my life until i pulled the trigger on it. so i test drove it just to make sure it lives up to the hype surrounding it (which it does).

Uhh yeah you did, you stated you were dating for 4 years and she is your highschool sweetheart. It doesnt take a genius to ascertain you are 21-22ish. Unless you are a highschool teacher that was rockin the cradle... if so.. then go ahead player! lol..

either way congrats on the car.. wasnt trying to attack you in any way. Just pointing out the forums are rough
