Carly App for BMW

Hey guys! Need a quick response here, I'm in a time crunch! With that being said, I'm sure there is an answer somewhere out there on Google or this forum, however I have spent some time looking and couldn't get a definitive answer and don't have the time to keep looking!

In regards to the Carly for BMW app, can it read diagnostic codes? For example, if I am misfiring on cylinder 3, will the Carly App show me the corresponding code for a misfire in cylinder 3?

Thanks for the quick answer guys!

But I think you should still search and make sure. I used mine for coding and reading fault codes so it should be able to read misfiring codes as well.

Yes, it will read missfire codes, carly is a must have app if you own a bmw. If you haven't purchased the app yet and are going to, I have a discount code you can use, pm me if you need it.

Edit: Discount code that I have is only good for the carly adapter and not the app.

The reason I got Carly was to read diagnostic codes.

It can read and clear the BMW-specific codes. It can also email the list of codes found to you.

It can read codes, bmw specific codes, you can code some things in the car, register/program new batteries and a few other things too.

In fact, as I write this, I have a 29D0 "Cyl4 misfire" code which I can get to occur on multiple occassions, which started about 2 weeks ago and which I am tolerating until my appointment for routine maintence which was scheduled for Nov. 14, 2.5 weeks ago. (expiration of my extended Service coverage on Nov 16.) Carly for BMW app identified the code, and clears the dash light until it happens again.

I tried using my k+dcan cable and OTG usb that I bought for the MHD flasher to use for the carly app but when I plug it in, it says no USB cable connected. It works fine with the MHD flasher. Anyone know whats up?

I'm not 100% sure on this one, but I recall reading somewhere that the Carly app will only work with certain cables, and not all cables!

Maybe someone can correct or reinforce my statement?

The DCAN and OTG cables I use with MHD work fine with Carly. But I bought the DCAN cable from bimmer software . com. Did you get your DCAN cable from Amazon or eBay?

bought it from a respectable member on the forums that used it to flash his MHD with no problems. I also used it to flash MHD with no issues either. Not sure where he got it from exactly but i dont see why that matters if it works perfectly with MHD.

Knowing that some DCAN cables from Amazon and eBay are hit or miss with MHD, maybe there are some cables from those sources that manage to work with MHD but don't work with Carly. Carly does seem more particular. In any event, what else could it be if not the cable?

My dcan and otg cables that I got for MHD(bought them from who MHD recommended) work just fine for Carly for me. Only thing it doesn't let me do is update/code the CiC? module as it says I need the Carly Bluetooth adapter.
