BMWhat bluetooth adapter

For you Android coders out there, the ELM327 v1.5 is recognized as the BMWhat bluetooth adapter. It's the same hardware and only costs $11 shipped on eBay. Works perfect.

Thanks. The news is too late for me. It is sad that the developer did not come forward with this info.

Yes, I already use it. I can use it with elm327, K cable and K-Dcan cable. Works great.

The adapter as well as the app are very intriguing. Anyone use the app? Curious what you think. Seems a lot more user friendly than the other route using different freeware apps. Also seems less prone for errors.

MBWhat is a FANTASTIC app. Damn expensive (about $55) but worth it. And the developer keeps adding new coding option. If you can given him the ECU and option setting, he can code BMWhat to do it.

I also have exactly this ELM module. But I found BMWhat will not do some ECUs with it. For some, you will require a USB wired OBD2 adapter, which you can find for about $15. I like having both adapters because I use the Bluetooth with the Torque app which adds a neat electronic dashboard.

Here is the BT ELM237 OBD2 I use, and it is less than $10 on ebay.

Hey thanks for taking the time for the feedback, blueman 😊
Sounds great to me. And really if you think about it, the price is reasonable since most "coders" are going to charge you at least $50 anyways to do it for you!

I don't do crazy coding, just stuff like LCI angel eyes and seatbelt chime removal... I love this app. Works flawlessly. I keep the BT adapter in my glovebox and can code my car anytime with my phone.

Is the BT dongle compatible with e92? The ebay post says BMW X5 2002 (ISO) -3, -5/X5/Z3/Z4/Z8/740I/740L/750IL

Yes, assuming it is the same one as I posted above (looks like it is) then it works with my 2010 E92.

Thanks for the link.

Ordered this today, after I found out the the original BMWhat OBD cable did not work on both my 2011 135i and 2009 328i xdrive!

Decided not to buy the $35 original BMWhat BT OBD adapter after above incident.

They (iViNi-Apps) offered to re-imburse me, but shipping costs alone would be more than the generic ELM327 BT dongle I just ordered.

Same dongle I run, Ive coded likely over 50 bmw's. From 1-3-5 and X series. The app I paid for, the dongle I cheated on.

If this adapter is identical to BMWhat adapter, my BMWhat Bluetooth works with Torque Pro app.

Yes, but you have to pay an xtra $10 for the add-on to the app - the original app cost does not include the battery reg capability

Once you buy/install the app you will be able to purchase the add-ons that are available
